A high-end golf equipment company is expected to move its headquarters to Plano after reaching an incentive agreement with the city to restore a prominent downtown property.

Allen-based company Lamb Crafted would make improvements that would bring the value of the property, a former auto shop, to over $1 million. If the company completes the repairs, it would receive $200,000 in tax-increment financing that the city approved for the project this week.

The building was constructed in 1987 and has not undergone substantial renovations since that time, according to a city staff report.

It is located south of 14th Street, just west of the Dallas Area Rapid Transit rail line that passes through the downtown area.

City staff supported the proposal in a report to council members, arguing the internationally recognized golf equipment company would enhance the appearance of the building and draw more visitors to downtown Plano.

“The enhanced look of the proposed building façade will be aesthetically aligned with the recent developments near this location and will help establish the character of Downtown Plano,” a staff memo reads.
