How do faculty members override registration errors?

I am a faculty member at UNM. How do I override capacity, prerequisites, co-requisites, or other registration errors for a student who wants to get into one of my classes?
Override of Registration Errors

Teaching faculty, based on College and Department guidelines, may override the errors encountered by students attempting to register for their sections. Only the Level Restriction error does not have an online override.

NEW!  11/1/2022.  There is a known Banner Defect impacting MacIntosh users attempting to do overrides.  Until a fix has been implemented, the workaround is to enter the override using an andro

id device.

To enter a Registration Override:

  1. Obtain from the student their UNM ID # and the error message they received.
The error message and it's related override are very similar with the exception of Special Approval (SPCAPP), details below.
  2. Login to MyUNM,
  3. Click on the Faculty Life tab,
  4. Click on the LoboWeb link.  Please be sure you are prompted to log in.  Residual access from a previous login without having logged completely out can cause problems in LoboWeb.
  5. Click on the Faculty & Advisors Menu (if not already displayed),
  6. Navigate to "Registration Overrides."  It's in red font -- which indicates a functionality that has changed
    • If you have not already selected a term, you will see a 'Term' selection drop down. The defualt term will generally, but not always, be the term of registration.
    • Enter the student ID or Last and First Name
    • Press Submit
    • Scroll down and click on the selected student's name
    • You will see the selected student's Registration Overrides page
    • Use the dropdown arrow in the Override field to select the correct type of Override to give
    • Use the dropdown arrow in the Course field to select the course you are providing the Override for
    • Select Submit
  7. After you’ve provided the override, the student will have to go in to their registration portal and change the course from WL to Registered.  There’s a great video tutorial for the student on how to do this at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BvJKQpKA7I
  8. Overrides are not "one-size-fits-all."  Specific registration errors require specific overrides.  There is information about specific overrides and which error they fix at this link:  https://registrar.unm.edu/Registration/registration-add-error.html.
  9. The PRECOCAP override will bypass all Prerequisite, Co-requisite, and Capacity errors.
  10. Either the SPCAPP or PERMREQ override may be used to bypass any "someone's Permission Req" errors.
  11. Level Restrictions do not have online overrides, this requires a Level Restriction/Graduate Credit Authorization form.

It is important that students realize they must still register themselves, the override does not "register" the student.
