Italy avalanche: At least one dead and several missing after horror Belluno avalanche

AN AVALANCHE in Italy has killed at least one person and several people are believed missing.

One person was rescued after an on Tofana di Rozes in Belluno, Italy, local news outlet via Leggo reported. The is thought to have occurred this morning in the Tofana di Rozes area above the Giussani refuge, in Cortina in the Veneto region. A 23-year-old man from Belluno in Italy died.

The man's 27-year-old brother who was with him was saved, local media reports.

The accident is being examined by the carabinieri of the Cortina mountain station.

Rescuers from the Alpine Rescue of the Guardia di Finanza intervened promptly.

They are currently putting in place all the necessary manoeuvres for a full rescue.

Turkey avalanche: Survivors rescued from vehicle buried in snow

Rescue attempts have been hampered by another avalanche from the Punta Penia area.

This area is part of the Marmolada glacier.

At the moment there are no reports of other fatalities in that area.

An alarm has been raised in local ski resorts.

The deepest reported snow in Italy this week was in Presena.

The region reported snow depths of 400cm on upper slopes and 300cm lower down.

Recent snow reports indicated that it last snowed in Italy on Friday 6th March 2020.

The snow fell on at least 17 Ski Resorts including Andalo, Canazei di Fassa, Falcade, Folgaria, and Passo Tonale.
