Brooklyn-born actor Frank Adonis, who appeared in “Goodfellas” and dozens of other films, died at the age of 83 on Wednesday night.
His wife, Denise, told TMZ that he passed away in Las Vegas after battling a series of health problems for several years.
“He will be missed,” she told TMZ. “He was a great father and an amazing husband. He helped all his friends he could. Great writer, director and actor. He was my best friend.”
Adonis played real-life mobster Anthony Stabile in the 1990 film “Goodfellas.” He appeared in some of Martin Scorsese’s other films as well, including “Casino” and “Raging Bull.”
He was born on Oct. 27, 1935 in Brooklyn. He has 40 acting credits, including for such films as “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,” “True Romance” and “Bad Lieutenant.”
Adonis had kidney problems the last few years and had been on dialysis, according to TMZ. He was taken off dialysis after Christmas.
He and his wife have two children, and he also had a daughter from a previous marriage, according to the gossip website.
