Why stay here ...
This is a quiet and peaceful site in a good area for walking with plenty of dog walks nearby. There is a golf course within 5 miles and they are only 1 mile from Sustrans Cycle Route 33. Forton House is motorhome friendly with storage pitches available adjacent and fully serviced pitches. They are also able to offer assistance for walking disabled.
Forton House CL is best described by the reviews. As Club members ourselves we have tried to create a site which is the sort of place we would love to stay at and we are always keen to hear how we can improve the site, which has developed over three years from your feedback.
- A large level site with enough room for all 5 visitors to have hard standings or grass, whatever is preferred. All pitches are long, so we can cater for large motorhomes.
- Dogs very welcome with walks nearby.
- A very peaceful and quiet site with no traffic noise.
- A bus service gives access to neighbouring towns leaving every 2 hours for a day out on foot.
- Cyclists can link up with the Sustrans national cycle network, route 33 close by.
- Electric Hook-ups are high output 16A.
- Car Charging is available at £8, nearest Charging point away from site is Lidl in Chard Town.

Forton House
Our first ever caravan outing was made easier by Peter's emails before and his advice on arrival. Once we were sorted we never saw him again, which was perfect! We had the CL to ourselves so Peter closed the gate and let us enjoy the solitude. Facilities clean and tidy and all worked well. Really thankful that we made this our first site, there's been no stopping us since.

Forton House
Our first week was wonderful, despite the rain! We visited Montacute House, Lyme Regis, Abbotsbury Gardens, Waterloo Monument, Forde Abbey, Seaton Tramway, West Bay, Seatown and Golden Cap. There are lovely sea views from the Anchor Inn in Seatown, and The Greyhound in Beaminster is worth a visit for a drink, and the food looked amazing and we had planned a return visit.
The site is lovely, with a shower / toilet block, and it was very quiet. We put up our bird feeder and saw so many long-tailed tits, coal tits, blue tits, great tits, and a beautiful pair of collared doves who sat on the feeder and peered in our bedroom window every morning to check we were awake!
Unfortunately, due to a family emergency, we had to leave very quickly and go to Wales. Peter was so kind, telling us not to worry about anything, and looking after the caravan until we returned. He wouldn't even accept any money for the days we over ran! Thank you so much Peter, you made everything so much easier for us - and we hope you enjoyed the wine!
Enjoyable Week
Forton House
We have just spent a most enjoyable week at Forton House CL. Peter was most welcoming and was on hand to respond to anything required. A lovely, peaceful CL
We enjoyed several circular walks from the site, as well as a couple of lovely day trips out. There are still many more places to explore, so another stay at Forton House CL will be on the cards at some point.

Lovely CL
Forton House
Peter is a brilliant host who is always thinking of ways to improve and listens to his visitors. He left us to set up and was never pushy but always there if required. The site itself is well laid out with plenty of space and options of grass or hard standing. It is as safe a location as you could find as it’s tucked away out of site from any road. Shower room was cleaned regularly and always good supply of loo roll (yes we have been to some before where you need to supply your own). Site kept tidy and was checked by Peter himself daily. Over all 14 nights on a very very nice site, thanks Peter. We would recommend this site to anyone wanting a quiet break away.

Forton House
Hi just spent 2 lovely weeks on this fabulous C.L, fully serviced pitches which are large with hard standing or grass which ever you like,loads of lanes to cycle to some lovely little places,so easy to find,Peter was always on hand if needed doing work on the ajoining shepheard huts, shower and toilet were clean and free, free wifi,very peacefull and quiet siteaccept for the occasional cows next farm along road,how anyone can put a negative review about this wonderful C.L. is beyond me!! We will 100% use this little gem again and again,thank you Peter for our stay at Forton House,
