Student Government Association Application
General Information
About the SGA:
The Student Government Association (SGA) of Piedmont Virginia Community College is the primary organization for representing the interests of all students to the faculty, staff, and administration. The SGA represents the rights, interests, and concerns of the student body to college officials while promoting an effective communication network between students, faculty, and staff. As a council for student ideas and concerns, the SGA works in conjunction with the college to improve student quality of life by planning, supporting, and running several student events. The SGA also encourages the establishment of new clubs.
SGA General Assembly Meetings are held on a biweekly basis in the Northmall Meeting Room from 8:00am-9:00am. All SGA members and club representatives are expected to attend. Two or more unexcused absences may result in a reevaluation of membership status.
SGA Departments:
Within the SGA there are three departments: events, public relations, and student voice. Each department has a specific area of focus within the SGA and are led by respective executive board positions. Every member of the SGA will be placed in one of the three departments. Student representatives also serve on many College Committees. These representatives communicate the interests of the SGA, and thus the student body, by their respective committees. Additionally, three SGA senators represent the student’s opinions and perspectives on the College Senate to bring improvements to the PVCC campus.
