RETURN TO SCHOOL & REMOTE SCHOOLING: Preparing for Q2

Dear U Prep Families,

First and foremost, we can’t begin to tell you how excited we are to welcome many of our children back to school. We have missed our scholars and while we have seen them each and every day over the screen, we are eager to have our youngest children back with us in the physical classroom starting next week, Monday, October 5th. Further, we anxiously await our 2nd through 5th graders in just a few weeks when those choosing to return to in-person do so on Wednesday, October 21st. While our return to school won’t look like we all wish it would, with giant hugs and beaming smiles, we are going to make it as warm and welcoming as possible while keeping health and safety our absolute top priority.

As part of our return to school we want to emphasize how important it is that all of us – our entire school community – play our part in maintaining our collective health and safety. As members of our broader community, please ensure you continue to follow all local health guidelines. These include, but are not limited to, mask wearing, limited social gatherings, and frequent hand washing. It’s up to all of us to keep our community safe and we need everyone doing their part. Our number one priority remains bringing our children back to school and our community’s health continues to determine our ability to do so. Let’s all take responsibility together.

We recognize that some levels of stress and anxiety may come with a return to school, and so we want to ensure you have all the information you need to make this transition as smooth and comfortable as possible. The health and safety of our children, our staff, and our entire school community is front and center for all of us. In this document we outline key information that you need to know if you are returning to in-person learning at our buildings and if you are remaining remote for the second quarter. It is important to note that some changes will take place for our remote scholars as we transition to a hybrid school with many children being fully in person and many children remaining fully remote. Please take time to review this content and be present for our upcoming webinars in which we’ll provide further information and you can ask questions.

We can’t thank you enough for all of the work you continue to do as you engage with our educators and directly support your scholars. It has been incredible to watch our entire school community come together to uplift our young people during this time of deep uncertainty. We appreciate and love you for all that you do. While this next chapter in the 2020-21 school year will be a challenging one as we enter the second quarter, we know it’s a challenge we can and will handle as a full, U Prep family.

With deep gratitude and love,

David I. Singer
