$25k Challenge: Steinwachs x Hart Family Skatepark

Donation protected

The Steinwachs Family Foundation has challenged my family, friends and me to raise $25,000 for the Hart Family Memorial Skatepark in Meredith, NH between May 1 and the end of August, 2019. They will match whatever we raise up to $25k. Every dollar you donate to this GoFundMe is doubled by the challenge! The new facility is built in honor of my parents Glenn Hart and Linda Hart-Buuck. It will be the first concrete skatepark in NH's Lakes Region.

I began fundraising to rebuild my dad's memorial skatepark in Meredith, NH during the summer of 2017, after having watched it dilapidate into a sad memory over the years. I have had endless help from family and friends. My mom even became the president of the nonprofit Friends of Meredith Parks and Recreation which has allowed us to apply for grants. This winter, she suffered a severe stroke and passed away. I am grateful that for the last months of her life, we got to work on a meaningful project together and it made me so happy to see her get involved. She even started skateboarding this fall at the age of 63. My mom saw how important having a skatepark was to my brothers and me when we were growing up, and she wanted all kids to have a place to get outside and have fun. After my dad passed away in 1998, outdoor recreation was a major way that our family dealt with our grief in a positive manner. The Hart Family Memorial Skatepark is a homage to two wonderful people that showed me the beauty of being able to have fun outside with friends is one of the greatest gifts of life.

So far, we have raised $125,000 of our $226,000 goal. If we complete this challenge, we will be so close to a new skatepark. Having a skatepark was the cornerstone of my youth, and it allowed me to make so many lifelong friends. Donating to this cause will be helping many kids discover a passion and forge lasting friendships, which are two invaluable assets during the turbulent years of our youth.

I won a Hohner harmonica contest this winter and I'm donating the $1,000 to kick off this challenge.  We can do this. Please share and tell your friends!
