UFC 254 injuries, medical suspensions: Jared Cannonier draws six-month sit with wrist injury

UFC 254 injuries and medical suspensions for the athletes who competed at the “Khabib vs Gaethje”-led event this past weekend (Sat., Oct. 24, 2020) from inside Flash Forum on “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, have been obtained by MMA.tv.

Leading the way in mandatory sits is Jared Cannonier, who will be sidelined for up to six months after suffering a broken wrist during his fight against Robert Whittaker (relive it here). Also handed a six-month sit was Nathaniel Wood, who suffered an injury on his right hand during his fight against Casey Kenney.

Here is the complete list of injuries and suspensions.

Khabib Nurmagomedov: 7 days mandatory rest

Justin Gaethje: 7 days mandatory rest

Robert Whittaker: 7 days mandatory rest

Jared Cannonier: 180 days unless cleared by doctor for left wrist. Minimum suspension for 30 days with 21 days no contact

Alexander Volkov: 7 days mandatory rest

Walt Harris: 30 days for TKO, 21 days no contact

Ion Cutelaba: 45 days for TKO, 30 days no contact

Tai Tuivasa: 7 days mandatory rest

Stefan Struve: 45 days for KO, 30 days no contact

Casey Kenney: 30 days for hard bout, 21 days no contact

Nathaniel Wood: 180 days unless cleared by doctor for right hand. Minimum suspension for 30 days with 21 days no contact

Shavkat Rakhmonov: 7 days mandatory rest

Alex Oliveira: 7 days mandatory rest

Da Un Jung: 7 days mandatory rest

Sam Alvey: 30 days, 21 days no contact

Miranda Maverick: 7 days mandatory rest

Liana Jojua: 180 days unless cleared by ENT. Minimum suspension for 60 days with 45 days no contact

Joel Alvarez: 7 days mandatory rest

Alexander Yakovlev: 7 days mandatory rest

Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases. In addition, not all injuries are recorded during the post-fight examination and often times surface in follow-up tests.
