U2718Q, faded colors near the edges/corners, #4

Hi.

I got this monitor in November, and I've recently noticed some color fading near the corners. It is most noticeable in the bottom right and top right corners, where the fade seems to be deeper and runs along the edge. Additionally, the panel has a terrible image retention issue which takes at least 30 minutes to visibly fade away. I can take pictures with a better camera if necessary, my smartphone is pretty bad at taking photos.

This is worrying to see on a monitor of this grade after only seven months. My previous monitor (2007WFP) didn't show any degradation at all after over 10 years of use!

I've already tried to run LCD conditioning, and letting the monitor cool down overnight before turning it back on (even unplugging the AC cable), to no avail.

What are my options?

Post pictures of all of the colored screens when running the stand alone BID (Built-in Diagnostic), page 51. For my notes, send me via Private Message the monitor service tag number and the 20 digit S/N.

The shades used by the BID are too bright for the problem to be captured on camera. I can still see it in person, but much fainter. Dark (but not completely black) backgrounds really make it stand out, I used 25% gray to take my pictures.

Here it is displaying #101010, #202020, #303030 and #404040 in full screen. The white icon that you can see in the corner is the image retention effect I am talking about.

Not sure what that all means. The U2718Q should be set to Factory Reset in the OSD (On Screen Display) -Others, page 42. Then run the BID (Built-in Diagnostic) and post pictures of the colored screens. For my notes, send me via Private Message the monitor service tag number and the 20 digit S/N.

Those are just normal color codes, as used in most image editing programs. 25% gray is #404040. I've made 4k images filled with those colors in GIMP and displayed them in full screen to make my pictures.

The colors used by the BID are way too bright for the anomaly to be visible on camera, so I don't think those pictures would be useful. You would only see normal behavior. It only becomes apparent on dark backgrounds (but not completely black). BID cycles through a very light gray, pure red, green, blue, white and black.

I've already tried all of the following:

- factory reset

- upgrading the firmware to M2B102

- running LCD conditioning

- enabling fast response time in the OSD (I do not use it usually)

- leaving the monitor completely powered off overnight

Both the image retention and edge fade show up immediately when I turn the monitor on, and the retained patterns changes through the day following the contents that I have on screen.
