| Isabella Kristiansen"Do you know what it's like? Living, while feeling you've no purpose?"
The Biography
|
Birth Name: Isabella Aina Kristiansen Aliases: Bell, Kristy, "Six-million dollar woman", Veritas Gender: Female Age: 36 Birth Day: December 13th Arcana: Hanged Man Place of Residence: Vista Square. Evoker: Mental Shackles Academy Semester: N/A Class: (We'll fill this in once you're approved. This will be your class in school)
Sorority: None
Part/Full Time Job: Part-time reporter at the SMILE news Studio
Appearance: A Fairly tall woman, standing at 5'10'', with a fairly slim but athletic build. Her facial features are mostly quite rounded, in contrast to a fairly sharp chin. She has very voluminous blond hair, kept roughly chin length. Her eyes, a sparkling blue, often have a forlorn look to them. Closer observation of Isabella's body reveals that much of her skin, primarily on the left side of her body, has a subtle, mesh-like texture to it.
Though concealable somewhat by clothing, several parts of her body have been replaced with cybernetics. Both legs have been replaced, the left from the mid-thigh down, the right from below the knee. Her left arm has also been replaced, from just below the elbow. These limbs are usually covered by a synthetic skin-analogue, that tends to melt due to the faulty nature of the cybernetics. Underneath the false skin the limbs are revealed to be a matte metallic gray, largely covered with plates of shiny gold-colored material. Her left eyes is artificial, though this is only real noticeable by a dim red light that flashes inside the eye every few minutes, only really noticeable in darkness. Finally, the external portion of her left ear is also both artificial and removable. These, combined with a few of her internal organs needing to be replaced, brings her weight to about 200 lb.
The only other notable feature to he body is a pair of holes on her lower back, each about two inches across, from which a pair of deployable heat sinks can extend. At first these heat sinks appear to be three-foot long lengths of extremely fine and thin, pleated fabric. These heat sinks contain tiny tubes running through their full length, through which coolant can be cycled. When filled with coolant in this fashion, the heat sinks straighten into a fan-shape and become rigid.
Alternate Appearance: In her alternate appearance, Isabella Gains segmented armor plating on her limbs, up to mid-thigh and mid-bicep for her legs and arms respectively. The armor is primarily gold in color, with networks of thin black gaps visible between the smaller plates. The left forearm appears to bear a large green, slightly opaque gem that glows with an internal light wen her Persona is summoned. She also gains a bulky segment of armor covering the upper portion of her torso. The rest of her body becomes covered in what looks like skin-tight spandex, color-wise split into three even-width sections, the center being a light pink while the two sides are gold matching her armor. Her lower face, up to the bridge of her nose are covered by a plate that is modeled after a human mouth, but cannot open. A clear visor attached atop her mouthplate covers her eyes, the right side a light green in color, while the left is a deeper orange. As a final touch, her heatsinks take on a dark-orange coloration.
Personality: While originally quite optimistic and generally happy. Isabella was not the same after her injuries. She became pessimistic, questioning whether personal sacrifices are really worth it. She tries to remain positive, but her attempts at positivity rarely last in the face of adversity. She does have a caring side to her, not wanting to see those she's come to care for suffer.
She finds a degree of comfort in the company of others, especially those she has come to know. Even so, she has difficulties opening up to others, as she expects most to show either disgust, shock, or pity if they learn of the state of her body.
Following her injuries and discharge from the military, Isabella has been wracked by a sense of lacking purpose and duty. Indeed, much of her days is spent basically on self-preservation, but throughout it she is searching for purpose to her actions, for some greater meaning.

The Potential

Strengths: (Anything your character is skilled in, such as Martial Arts/ Drawing/ etc? You are allowed a maximum of five strengths and a minimum of three.)
—Strength Name: Burning Overclocking —Description: Isabella's cybernetics incorporate systems that cause them to start increasing their performance in response to a heightened emotional state. This was primarily to help survival during military combat operations. However, this increased performance also causes the generation of more heat than the incorporated cooling systems can manage, and as a result, a buildup of heat on the outermost plating of her cybernetics. Isabella has a Heat count, ranging from 0 to 5. Her Heat count at the start of battle is her choice of 0 or 1, and increases by 1 at the end of each post during which her Heat Sinks are not deployed. For every point of Heat count, Isabella gains a 3% increase to Luck as her reaction speed ramps up.
—Strength Name: Heat Sink —Description: In stressful situation Isabella relies on her heat sinks to regulate the waste heat generated by her artifical limb. At the beginning of her post in combat, Isabella can choose whether or not to have her Heat Sinks deployed. If they are deployed, she does not gain heat, and instead reduces her heat count by 1 at the end of her post. Additionally these heat sinks allow her body to cope with high temperatures, reducing fire damage she suffers by 15% as long as they are deployed.
—Strength Name: Close-quarters Defense —Description: Her military career meant she had to learn how to keep herself safe when things got ugly up close and personal. While Guarding, damage from physical attacks is reduced by 15%
—Strength Name: Nobody Gets Left Behind —Description: Though it has been years since her military career, Isabella still refuses to leave the wounded to their fate. Healing done by her is increased by 10%
—Strength Name: Craves Company —Description: Isabella desires company, and wishes to understand people. Any point gains to Understanding is doubles.
----- ((A floating Strength is a strength you've gained inRP. For example, if you were on a Kendo team for some time, you'd naturally know Kendo which is where this strength would come in. However, be aware, it will not be as strong as any of your actual strengths and is a small plus)
—Floating Strength Name: —Description:
Weaknesses: (You must have the same amount of weaknesses as strengths. These weaknesses pertain to you and not your Persona. IE: Physically Weaker, lack of attention span, etc.)
—Weakness Name: Burning Overclocking —Description: Build up of excess heat is not without its risk. The heat puts additional strain on her body during particularly strenuous activity, causing every persona skill to have an additional cost of [Heat count]% HP.
—Weakness Name: Heat Sink —Description: With her heat sinks deployed, Isabella becomes more vulnerable to cold temperatures, suffering 15% more damage from Ice attacks.
—Weakness Name: Questionable Insulation —Description: The original designs of Isabella's cybernetics were designed with the male physique in mind, so when they were adapted for her, some cutbacks had to be made. One of those was cutting back on electrical insulation. Isabella suffers 15% more damage from Electricity attacks.
—Weakness Name: Immunosuppresants —Description: Isabella regularly consumes immunosuppresive medication due to her cybernetics. Due to this, she's 10% more likely to be inflicted with the poison ailment
—Weakness Name: Can't Spit It Out —Description: Isabella often keeps her feelings to herself, if only due to not knowing how to properly articulate it. Point gains to Charisma are halved.
----- ((A floating weakness is one gained in RP. It could be a fear you inherited during RP, or an injury that hinders your character. Some can be temporary while others can be permanent.)
—Floating Weakness Name: —Description:
Soul Bound Weapon: (This is the weapon you'll be able to summon to your hand while in combat. This weapon is special for your character specifically and allows you to fight Shadows and Demons without the need of summoning your Persona. This can be anything but a Gun (Or gun related weapon))
Weapon Name: Frozen Promise Weapon Description: A knife of Finnish design, with a roughly seven-inch blade and an intricate leather sheath. Weapon Image: - Spoiler:
Weapon Attack Type: Slash Weapon Element: (Leave this blank. Only special weapons obtain an element behind its blows.)
Side-Arm Weapon:
Side-Arm Name: Ingram MAC-10 Side-Arm Description: A compact submachine gun with a foldable stock and capable of accepting a suppressor. Side-Arm Image: - Spoiler:
Side-Arm Attack Type: Gun Side-Arm Style: Machine Gun - Muti-Round - Accuracy is decreased by 30%. Consumes 3 types of ammo at once to fire -must be same type of ammo.

The Background
|
History:Born in Norway to a fairly wealthy family, Isabella was taught some very traditional views of her role as a woman. Not that she necessarily agreed with them, but she always did find the idea of settling down and having kids to be a nice one. Her early years were in her own eyes fairly unremarkable, expect for how her parents were very particular about the kinds of people Isabella associated with, thoguh she would later find her parents fairly manipulative. Conscripted into the military at age 19, Isabella came to find a a true sense of camaraderie among the people she trained with.
She quickly grew to understand just how much she had missed out on with her sheltered upbringing. She became rebellious with a desire to carve out her own path. Before then, everything had been laid out before her, more or less decided on her behalf. In an act of defiance, she decided to make a career out of the thing that had led her to these realizations. Years passed, and she would slowly climb up the ranks of the military. During this time, she also met a man with whom she quickly fell in love. He showed worry for her safety in her line of work, and as Isabella's feelings for him, she began to feel the same. By then however, she had signed herself up for a six month peacekeeping assignment in the middle-east.
Isabella had been on a few such assignments before, and only had a single scar to show for all of it. She promised to take time off from the military after her assignment was finished, both having saved up money to settle down. It was all supposed to go well, and the first five months or so did. Then the car bomb happened.
She would later come to learn that a truck filled with explosives had rammed into the LUV she had been sitting in, and detonated. It had hit the left side dead-on, while Isabella had been sitting on the right rear seat. She was the only one to be dragged out of the wreckage alive, but the end results weren't pretty. Both her legs were gone below the knee, with sever burns and shrapnel wounds on the left side of the body requiring further amputations. Her entire left ear was gone, both internally and externally. The intense heat had caused severe scarring to her left cornea, rendering the eye blind. And then there were the internal injuries.
When she had come to, she was horrified, having spent more than a month in a medically induced coma as much work had been done to save her life. But while the doctors had succeeded in saving Isabella's life following this tragedy, they could not fix her crippled body. Much of her days would be spent confined to a hospital bed, drugged up on pain meds after a new skin graft, or fighting off yet another infection. What little she saw of the world outside her hospital room was in a wheelchair. After a few more months of intensive medical care, Isabella had recuperated enough to be sent back to Norway, where her care fell upon her husband-to-be, and her parents. Not long afterwards, a private company specializing in robotics and cybernetics approached the military and Isabella's family with an offer. An offer any of the parties involved couldn't refused.
What followed was several more months in the hospital for Isabella. Several, at times agonizing months as the skin that could not be replaced by regular grafts was instead replaced by a form of artificial skin. At the same time titanium pin were attached to the bones of her stumps, input wires for electrical impulses grafted to her nerves. Several more surgeries followed, to replace her damaged internals and senses. After another four mouths of recovery, the true operation began, and after a few more weeks of night-continuous work, her new limbs were finished. Not that it was that simple. It took over a year of physical therapy for her to relearn and adjust to her regained limbs, but finally, she could walk again, she could hold the man she loved with her own two hands again, she could see him smile, hear him speak.
However, that love would not last, As it was only after her recovery, that Isabella learned one of the things that she had lost as a result of the car bomb: Her womb and ovaries. This, coupled with the rapid heat generation of her limbs whenever her emotional state became too high, meant that physical intimacy became... Out of the question. To Isabella, who had dreamed of one day bear a child, this came as a shock. To her, she had lost her purpose as a woman.
She returned to her work, immersed herself in it. Drowned herself in it. In that combat she tried to find purpose, and it was during one of her many following assignments that she broke up with the man she loved, believing he deserved better. But the past haunted her, made her reckless. And then people died because of that recklessness. Too accustomed to the enhancements afforded to her by her new limbs, and too focused on outrunning the ghosts of her own failure, one fatal encounter left most of the squad Isabella had led dead.
She received an other than honorable discharge from the military, and returned home, where she fell into a long bout of crippling depression. The Divide would soon send all into disarray, Isabella and her estranged family moving to Endymion shortly after hearing of its establishment. Her parents afforded her therapy, if only so she would stop leeching off them, and indeed, she finally got back up on her, and moved out. But with her military career lost, she had lost the one other thing she felt had given her purpose.

| Ayyy guess whose site filters are down at work?
Alright so a couple things but I'm sure you expected as much. Overall character looks good so I'll only be focusing on Strengths and Weaknesses.
For your Heat Sink Strength this should only apply when your heat sinks are deployed and not all the time. The wording on it is a little dicey and I'm sure you meant it that way but if you're only going to have a Weakness that's in effect sometimes you can only have a Strength that's in effect sometimes.
For Burning Overclocking the mechanic is fine but you can't have both a Luck boost and a Dex boost, you would need two separate Strengths or state that this one takes two of them, you would have to pick one. Bear in mind that this cannot increase your physical attributes above human limits outside of Orgia Mode.
On the Weakness side if you're only choosing to keep the Burning Overclock Strength at one stat boost you only need to choose one Weakness effect. For the [Heat Count] adding % HP this will need to start at Heat Count 1 but you would only need to apply it to physical skills if you want. For the overheat effect it would only apply when you hit Heat Count 5 which you would NEVER have to do if you chose not to and just get that 12% boost for free so this one's a little harder to balance. You can overhaul it if you want but I think a fair balance to this would be to change the description on Heatsink so that you can't deploy your heatsinks and lose heat if you choose to make an attack or use a skill that deals damage in the same turn, so managing heat can actually be a challenge instead of a free 12% boost. | |

| Right, I reworded the Heatsink strength to hopefully make it crystal clear the defensive asepct only applies as long they remain deployed. Also removed the Dex buff from Burning Overclocking.
Now, for the Weakness side of Burning overclocking, I'm a bit unsure how to make it meaningful. I can understand the overheating at heat 5 being a very exploitable approach. Meanwhile if the extra HP cost is only for physical skills, it wouldn't apply for a while. I intend for her initial persona to probably be pure support (a la Growth), so the first time she'll probably even get a physical skill to use is if/when she hits Prime level, which mean she'd just be having a nice 15% luck boost to stabbing and/or shooting fools till then. Any input on that. | |

| You can keep it like that anyway. Even if you don't plan on your build making use of something you can still make it harder to use that something. Mages often lower PPstr for example. You can make the Weakness be as harmful to your character as you want as long as it balances out the Strength but I was just providing an example. Scale-able boost for a scale-able drawback. | |
