Roberto Occhiuto, President of the Regione Calabria, was appointed President of the Intermediterranean Commission during the #GeneralAssembly that took place on June 29-30, 2023 at Villa San Giovanni, in #Calabria. The Commission is one of the 6 areas of geographic intervention of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR). On the first day, the participants joined thematic working groups to share their views on strategic topics such as #BlueEconomy, #transportation, #energy, #water, and #TerritorialCooperation. The following day was dedicated to a seminar on innovating and cooperating for the implementation of a sustainable economy, and ended with the General Assembly, which was later joined by Antonio Tajani, Italy's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. During the main meeting, parallel sessions were held by the Mediterranean Youth Council, a group affiliated to the #CPMR, whose members are young people aged 18 to 30 from all over the Mediterranean region, from Kosovo to Cyprus, Lebanon, Palestine, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Spain, Italy, and France. We are pleased to announce that our first social documentary "the Mediterranean: Sea of Garments", which is set to premiere in late May, has been awarded the "Best International Film Award" during the ENACTING digital film festival! This documentary is as its title -an analogy between our Mediterranean sea and a suffocating Climate- indicates; it is about fast-fashion and how it represents an underlying but imminent threat to our environment. Fast-fashion is surely an overlooked threat that is further fueled by corporate greed and a culture of out-of-control consumerism and so we delve deeper into this world and a counter-world of climate change fighters. The ENACTING project is a collaboration of leading European arts institutions such as our partner Les Têtes de l'Art , Jugend- & Kulturprojekt e.V. (JKPeV), Centro di Creazione e Cultura, Synergy of Music Theatre, and ReadLab, which aims at empowering citizens to express their ideas and concerns on social issues through the production of social documentaries.
