Less than 12 months ago Northamptonshire County Council increased parking charges to £1.20 per hour for street parking in the town centre (St Giles Street, Guildhall Road, Derngate, Hazelwood Road etc). They are now proposing to change the parking to £2 per hour which we (local businesses and residents) feel will have a hugely detrimental effect on the already declining high street. We are working hard to encourage people back into the town centre and we would like the council to understand this and give people more reasons to shop in Northampton, rather than less!
