Apparently Parent
Really enjoyed this podcast! The pacing's perfect for a parent that's looking for something a little more intellectual than a lot of the other parenting podcasts. Love the topic and can't wait to hear more!
Educational for any parent
The topic of education in the US is and should be a permanently hot topic. Lauren’s personal, professional, and passionate approach to the topic focuses on the parent, teacher, student intersection. She presents research to back up her discussions so that you feel very confident in the content of her podcast. In episode 4 we learn a productive form of communication with teens called Motivational Interviewing in which we, as parents, understand how to shift our language in order to help our children make their own decisions about their own lives which helps them become SELF motivated. It’s simple yet so logical. She askes her guests important questions and lets them respond in depth. I learned more about ADHD is this podcast that I have over many years of working with my grown sons who have been diagnosed with ADHD. I never knew it was a life long condition that could even be detected at very early ages. I appreciate Dr. Sibley’s careful answers and concern for over-diagnosing and incorrect treatment. Episode one kicks off the season with a deep dive into homework. You walk away feeling positive about homework and its potential for a closer relationship with your precious child. As a podcast junkie, I am quick to try new podcasts but shut it down if I am not engaging early. I was fully engaged for every episode and highly recommend this pod for any parent with children of any age as well as anyone who cares about our educational system. We all have family and friends we can refer an excellent resource like Homework is Stupid.
