Enquirer names Greater Cincinnati high school athletes of the week Jan. 29

In a vote that ended Jan. 29, Cincinnati.com readers selected winners for the Cincinnati Enquirer Athlete of the Week, presented by Mercy Health, for the Jan. 18-24 voting period.

Winners will receive a certificate sent through the school's athletic department.

This week's winners are:

Ohio winter team, boysSt. Xavier swimming – The powerhouse met GCL opponent Moeller and left with a 207-75 victory with wins in every event.

Ohio winter team, girls: Fayetteville-Perry basketball – Fayetteville-Perry beat Manchester 61-47 on Jan. 23, giving head coach Toby Sheets his 500th career victory.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys team: Ludlow boys basketball – The Panthers won two games, including a tight win over conference foe Calvary Christian to improve to 4-2.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls team:·Dixie Heights girls swimming – The Colonels beat Notre Dame in a tri-meet with St. Henry Jan. 23.

Ohio boys basketball player, big school: Pete Craft, Loveland – The senior forward was 6-of-7 from the field for 13 points to go with a game-high 7 rebounds in Loveland’s 59-55 win over Kings Jan. 19.

Ohio boys basketball player, small school: Logan Stidham, Reading – The junior guard’s 16-point, 10-rebound double-double helped steer Reading to a 58-41 victory over Clark Montessori Jan. 19.

Ohio girls basketball player, big school: Sam Feldmann, Lebanon – The junior forward had 17 points to lead Lebanon to a 50-36 win over Kings Jan. 23.

Ohio girls basketball player, small schoolLaura Moser, MVCA – The junior posted a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double in MVCA’s victory over New Miami Jan. 21.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys basketball playerAydan Hamilton, Campbell County – He had 22 points and eight rebounds in the Camels’ key district rivalry win over Bishop Brossart.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls basketball player: Nejai Lewis, Holmes – The sophomore had 18 points and 18 rebounds in a win over St. Patrick Jan. 22, which was Holmes’ fourth straight.

Boys bowler: Tommy Hambrick, La Salle – The senior bowled a 451 (205, 246) in the win over Moeller Jan. 19, helping him to fourth in average in the Greater Catholic League- South for the league-leading Lancers.

Girls bowlerChrissy Cook, Mercy McAuley – She bowled a 413 (257, 156) in the win over Seton Jan. 21 and a 420 (207., 213) in the win over Mount Notre Dame Jan. 19.

GymnastRaelyn Cowherd, Indian Hill – She won all-around and took first in the bars and beam at the Jan. 23 Centerville Elk Invitational.

Ice hockey: John Piehowicz, St. Xavier – The senior goalie had 36 saves in the 6-3 win over Dublin Coffman Jan. 23, which was one of two wins in three games over the weekend.

Ohio boys swimmer/diver: Ethan Moore, Walnut Hills – He won the diving title at the Eastern Cincinnati Conference meet Jan. 21-23 with a score of 223.85.

Ohio girls swimmer/diver:  Katie Fisher, Lebanon – The sophomore won the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke at the Eastern Cincinnati Conference meet Jan. 21-23.

NKY girls swimmer/diver: Emma Littrell, St. Henry – She won two events and finished second another to help the Crusaders win the combined title in a meet with Dixie Heights.

Boys wrestling: Mitch Reardon, Sycamore – His record increased to 19-2 (11 pins) and he was a bright spot in the team losses to Mason and Lakota East Jan. 20.

Girls wrestling: Meghan Werbrich, Taylor – The freshman took first place at the Heart of Ohio Girls Invitational Jan. 17. She has a 12-0 record with 11 pins and one technical fall against girls. Only one female all year has scored any earned points on her. She is currently ranked No. 3 at 137 pounds in rankings for girls.
