1) The Super V-Shaped Recovery

We’ve been saying for weeks that an October surprise was coming that would deliver spectacular news on the economy on the eve of the election. It came this morning as the GDP rose in the third quarter by a record-shattering 33.1%. How good is this number? It not only is the highest growth rate in recorded U.S. history, it DOUBLES the previous record set back in 1950.

Adding to the good news is that ALL of this growth was private-sector growth – none of it came from government “Stimulus.” The government actually shrank slightly in the 3rd quarter. Private spending was up 40% and the best news of all was that private investment soared by 83%!

Thank God Trump didn’t surrender to Pelosi’s hostage demand of a $3 trilllion give-away stimulus plan, which is fake growth.

Once again, Trump has proven all his economic critics wrong, wrong, wrong. The economists at the Fed, Congressional Budget Office, and virtually all of the sages on Wall Street predicted several months ago that the economy would grow between 10 and 15%. They were off by 100%.

Right now the American economy is riding on the back of Secretariat. What a shame – no, an epic tragedy for the country – if voters chose to change horses now.

2) Dr. Birx: COVID False Positive Tests A Big Problem

Scott Hennen, the Rush Limbaugh of North Dakota, asked Birx about the dead virus problem with PCR lab testing that we have reported in the past.

https://www.am1100theflag.com/news/23442-scott-visits-dr-deborah-birx-recap-her-visit-bismarck-week

Hennen (at 11:37): "Is it true that PCR tests are unable to differentiate between active infections and old viral debris? Should we be using different tests?"

Birx: "Great question and great scientific insight! What the PCR is measuring is presence of viral RNA that can be full-length, which leads to full replication, and then there are pieces of RNA that can exist that aren't full-length and can't lead to viral replication, which happens at the end of your course in many patients.  So that's why we're talking about a mix of tests, and that's why we've been shipping out to states like North Dakota these antigen tests so that more individuals can get tested and then you can use the PCR as a confirmatory of test positive, if needed.  But they're absolutely right and that's why CDC does not recommend repeat testing after your initial diagnosis."

The trouble is, many states are doing the exact opposite. They are treating antigen positives as definitive, but requiring PCR confirmation of antigen *negatives*.  Even though antigen-negative/CR positive almost always indicates old, dead non-infectious virus.

States should switch to the protocol Birx outlined, which would dramatically reduce the false positive problem and focus on the truly infectious, while reducing lab backlogs.

3)  And Now For Something Completely Different: The Good News on the Virus

The media treats any good news on the virus as top secret (though that will certainly change overnight if Biden wins), so we were cheered to read this from, where else?, the Wall Street Journal editorial page:

“Death rates have also fallen tremendously as treatments have improved. …A new study by the NYU Langone hospital system reports its mortality rate declined by 70% from March to August after accounting for age, health risks, admission vital signs and other factors. The Houst on Methodist hospital system reported its mortality during the summer surge was about 3.5% versus 12.1% in the spring.”

4) Regeneron Makes Some Big Claims in New FDA Submission

Speaking of improvements in treatments, the drug President Trump credited with his own rapid COVID recovery has submitted new results to the FDA that, if accurate, could be a major game-changer. They claim:

  • By day 5, a greater than 10-fold reduction in viral load, compared to placebo.

  • Reduced COVID-19 related medical visits by 57% through day 29.

  • Reduced COVID-19 related medical visits by 72% in patients with one or more risk factors (including being over 50 years of age; body mass index greater than 30; cardiovascular, metabolic, lung, liver, or kidney disease; or immunocompromised status).

We always caution against medicine by press release. But if these claims are proven accurate the disease burden, particularly among the most vulnerable, could be reduced considerably.

5) Before Any Vaccine - A Flu Shot Could Reduce Coronavirus Infections

U.S. health officials are urging Americans to get their flu shots this year in the hopes of thwarting a winter “twindemic” —a situation in which both influenza and COVID-19 spread at the same time.

But getting a flu shot early can be a good thing. A new study suggests a flu shot might reduce one’s chances of getting COVID-19.

The research, released to Scientific American as a preprint that has not yet been peer-reviewed, indicates that a flu vaccine against the influenza virus may also trigger the body to produce broad infection-fighting molecules that combat the pandemic-causing Coronavirus. The paper is in line with some other recent studies published in peer-reviewed journals that point to similar effects.

6) Europe Keeps Schools Open Even with Cases Far Higher Than Ever Seen in U.S.

It makes scientific sense that schools would be the last thing to close, considering the enormous body of evidence we now have that children are at nearly zero risk (99.997% survival rate per CDC under age 20) and very rarely infect adults — almost never among younger children.

7) Chicago Teachers Union Goes to Court to Avoid Going to School

Chicago Teachers Union has decided it would rather litigate than even discuss returning its members to the classroom.

Chicago Public Schools spokeswoman Emily Bolton says the union has “refused to even discuss” returning to in-person classes, even as hundreds of private schools in Chicago are open.

https://news.yahoo.com/chicago-public-schools-says-teachers-145355866.html

Before it will even begin talks, the union has demanded that its certified industrial hygienists be allowed to inspect school air quality in the district’s buildings. Chicago Public Schools says it has already hired its own state-certified environmental hygienists to perform inspections. But the union says they are unacceptable.

This got us thinking. Remember when Reagan fired the Air Traffic Controllers who were illegally striking? Wouldn’t it be wonderful if one of these mayors or governors would fire the teachers union and hire people who DO want to teach our kids? We find it almost inconceivable that any replacement teachers could possibly do a worse job than the unions do.

8) The New York Times “Anonymous” Author Who Gained Fame By Trashing Trump Was a Nobody

“Anonymous,” the allegedly senior Trump administration official the New York Times paraded around as a hero turned out to be, well, a nobody of no consequence. A random mid-level staffer at DHS.

So the entire story was a deliberate lie by the Times. This was no “senior official.” It was just one of the thousands of deep state bureaucrats who hates Trump and was given an outsized platform by the media to trash him. It just shows why a Trump second term is so necessary to drain this swamp.

9) Smothering the Biden Corruption Story

Tom Bevan of Real Clear Politics can’t believe the failure of the news media to investigate the Tony Bobulinksi allegation of Biden family corruption.

Well:

10) Philadelphia Burns

Another great American city is up in flames this week.

At least 200 businesses were mass looted last night. Bricks and blood were thrown at police officers. And a van full of “propane tanks, torches and possible dynamite sticks” was seized by police – fortunately, before it exploded, but not before several police vehicles were destroyed this week. Twenty-three officers were injured, and they are authorized only to use pepper spray to defend themselves.

How much more of this are law-abiding Americans supposed to tolerate?
