  Suppose I have an article that I want to submit for possible publication in a Journal. So before submission I must know whether the Journal that I have selected is suitable for my article or not. We can use Journal Suitability Indicator(JSI) for finding the suitability of the journal by answering to the six questions asked in the JSI page.
  Total number of keywords of your article matching with the Journal's topic of interest 
   
  Every research article must have keywords whch represent the central theme of the research reported by the article.Again every Journal has its own topic of interest.Now see whether any or more than one keywords is matching with the journal's interest.More it matches more suitable is the journal for your article.But there are many other factors that you have to consider before finally zeroing in on a Journal.
   
  Total number of keywords of your article matching with the latest three articles of the journal
   
  Look for the latest three articles from the journal.The matching keywords between your article and the published articles may be added and placed in the designated field of the JSI.More is the average better suitable is the journal for your article.
   
  Total number of keywords of your article matching with the most cited article of the journal
   
  Now look for the most cited article of the journal and try to find the matching keywords between your article and the most cited article.More the matching more is the suitability of the journal for your article.
   
  Total number of references that your article cited from this Journal
   
  How many reference that you have cited in your article is from the selected journal….more the better.
   
  Total number of editors whoes article you have cited in your article
   
  In total how many references that were cited in your article, is from the research works published from the editors of the selected journal…..More the merrier. You can find the name of the Editors from the list of Editors given in the journal webpage. Try to compare with those Editors who have the same research interest as you have or which matches with the article you are planning to submit.
   
  Total number of reviewers whoes article you have cited in your article
   
  In total how many number of references that were cited in your article is from the research works published from the reviewers of the selected journal….More the merrier. You can find the name of the reviewers from the list of Reviewers given in the journal webpage.Try to match the keywords with the Reviewer who have the same topic of research as you have or which matches with the keywords of your article.

1 JSI will be a number between 0 to 1,more the better .
2 If JSI is less than 0.25 then your article is highly unsuitable for that journal and If within 0.26 to 0.5 then also the article is not suitable for the targeted journal.
3 However if the JSI is more than 0.5 then the article become suitable and for a JSI of more than 0.75 then your manuscript is highly suitable for the selected journal.
4 Although it doesn’t mean that your article will surely get published in the journal as that depends on the quality of your work and writing along with the preference of the selected reviewers and editors, but at least you can be assured that your article will not get rejected due to “out of scope of the journal”.
5 JSI value will depend on your inputs and the way you have calculated the inputs from the journal.
