  1. Good Morning, Everyone…. 🚗 GO WEST, YOUNG MAN…🚗

🎶 Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above…Don’t fence me in…Let me ride through the wide open country that I love…Don’t fence me in…🎶 “Don’t Fence Me In” – Gene Autry 1944 https://tinyurl.com/y89xpex8

🚗 So SADLY with the Covid, people have curtailed their trips,
No VOYAGE like we used to do…a lot we had to skip
But looking at these two today, we see what does APPEAL
They headed for Nebraska…a nice trip behind the wheel…
Here’s hoping things get better, and like ICING on a cake,
We get to resume life like was…and car trips we’ll all make
But for now, with this puzzle…there’s not much that I can say…
It’s easy, breezy, spelt right out…it’s simply PLAIN AS DAY…🚗

Once again this morning, it’s looking like one of our 5-letter words is making a debut. SADLY’s not showing up in my records…as sad as that may seem. Like yesterday, with Quart, it just seems hard to believe that so common a word wouldn’t have been in use before, right?…but…as I said, I’m coming up empty…And our other 5-letter entry, NICIG? Well that we’ve seen in 2013 and 2015, as is…plus a few other times over the years. And, if you recall, it’s always managed to freeze a few of us out…so let’s see how it goes today. And with that being said…let’s drive on…

“Go West, young man…” as Horace Greeley liked to say…And so, today, we are…The open road. The Great Plains….And there you have it, Folks! Done! Seriously, that’s about it. We have a couple, driving into Nebraska, with our woman saying…”It’s so GREAT to be here”. PLAIN and simple…What more is there to say? They see the Prairie PLAIN AS DAY…(Hey, that rhymes)! And that sun shining bright in the sky is all the eye candy you need to emphasis the DAY…Again, the GREAT PLAINS, Folks… https://tinyurl.com/6gnz65l …And we’ve arrived at our destination…

Here’s to a better day than yesterday…Be well, Everyone. And stay safe out there…🚗🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🎂 After having promised to bake the cake for clubs Bon VOYAGE party, SADLY the taste of the ICING didn’t APPEAL to her, and she realized PLAIN AS DAY that she’d need to start all over…🎂

🚢 They planned to take a VOYAGE, but she started to have doubts
Cause SADLY the last week or so, he hid his whereabouts…
Now how could this APPEAL to her, if he began to flake?
And damaged the relationship…the ICING on the cake?
Her second thoughts grew stronger…she could not keep them at bay
Confront him she would need to do…just ask him PLAIN AS DAY…🚢

  3. Loved your song choice, Angela.
Nicig had me stumped until I noticed the ing ending. Plain was the only word that came to mind and luckily that worked.
    Wishing all a great weekend.

    • Good Morning, Caroline …Tk you…it popped into my head, so I just went with it…Seemed to fit…And Nicig is a very good anagram for 5 simple letters, right?…As for the solve…I always automatically think the Great Plains whenever I hear Nebraska, and Plain as day is an idiom I use quite often, so it just showed itself…plus that sun was a good clue too…Glad you stuck it out! 👏🏻👏🏻 Be well, Caroline…stay safe. 🚗🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. Good morning. Sadly enough, the two words that took me the longest to get was that and Icing. The only thing I could think of was that I was looking for something much harder to get. I would have been a good model for the bobble head doll when I realized how simple they were. After writing down the letters the cartoon answer was simple. Really enjoyed it today. Loved your song choice Angela, Every time I hear him I’m brought back to a song he sang that few people know about and it’s called “ Your wiki your wacky your wow wow wonderful”. Then it goes ever since the day I first met you and yada yada yada. Lol. I had it on 78 rpm. I’m not sure if it was the B side of the record. Anyway, loved your post. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn. Bobble head doll? You always make me laugh! 😂 As for our words, sometimes those 5-letter words are the hardest, right? But I’m glad you enjoyed my song, I felt you might, and thanks for the Shout Out. And I’ve been going through 78 recordings of Gene Autry trying to find your song, but I’m striking out. Any chance you remember any more lyrics? I’m so bummed that my searches are all coming up empty…🤷🏻‍♀️

      • Angela I’ll give you what I can remember. Excuse the spelling. Always wanted to get on the Johnny Carson show and try to stump their band with that and The Gutter Bum song. Here is what I remember. Your wiki your wacky your wo wo wonderful ever since the day I first meet you your silly your daffy and your cuckoo too but I love you so what can I do. Time will tell whether you love me, then blank. Hope this help you. Take care.

        • Hey Paul…Unfortunately, still coming up empty…but I’ll keep trying. You never know. Pleasant dreams…🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. I was stumped twice, first on appeal, and then the cartoon solution as I had lands as my first word rather than plain. We’re off for a family weekend with my wife’s birthday today and Father’s Day tomorrow.See you on Monday.

    • Worst thing when you get a word stuck in your head, right? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Enjoy your weekend, Professor. Best wishes to your wife, and have a Happy Fathers Day. 🚗🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. Hope the couple were not heading to Tulsa today. That would be plain stupid!

    • Can I hear an Amen?! Be well, Jensen. Stay safe…and far away from Tulsa! 🚗🙋🏻‍♀️

      • I know that’s just a joke, but it’s funny that I was just reading that there are no major North/South highways in Nebraska, so they’re probably not going there. The one time I didn’t cross the country on Route 80, we took Route 40 which pretty much follows the old Route 66 path and we did go through Oklahoma City.

  7. I too paused at sadly but everything else fell into place easily. Love that “Don’t Fence Me In” song, Angela. Hope all of you have a good weekend.

    • TVs, Betty. Me too…Definitely fits our lives today, huh? 😢 Hope you’re having a good day! Be well Betty, stay safe. 🚗🙋🏻‍♀️

  8. Hi all – I had to jumble APPEAL several times for some reason, but got the rest of the words and the answer quickly.

Assuming they’re on Route 80, they’ve crossed the Mississippi and the plain will soon give way to downtown Omaha. I’ve see that view at least 3 times during cross-country drives in the 70’s.
They may see the view plain as day, but if they’re heading west and that’s the sun, they won’t see it for much longer, as it’s about to set.

Speaking of the Sun, it seems that the June Equinox occurs later this afternoon as Summer begins, and in a rare coincidence, a solar eclipse also happens tomorrow. It’s only visible from Africa and Asia, but it will be shown online on many sites:

    Good wishes to everyone.

“The APPEAL of a cruise to Antarctica was that it was planned to be the ICING on the cake of their round-the-world VOYAGE, but SADLY it had to be cancelled.”
