I love our Invertigo calendar for 2014. It's full of reminders of how much ground this company covers. From Maine to the Mojave, from white caves to underwater wonderlands, from soaring in a studio to soaring with actual gliders, with a guest appearance by an LA Phil musician. . . it's a great moment for me to reflect on the year we've had and the year that's to come.
We upped the ante this year. We printed 500 of these strange and wonderful calendars, double what we did last year. We have 100 to go, and we've set ourselves this goal:
If we can sell all 100, that will fund our Invert/ED education program with Bancroft Middle School.
This year, we brought 3 dance teachers and a musician into a 6-week residency with these kids. We taught Invertigo repertory from After It Happened and taught them choreography skillls so they could create their own movement. At the end, we'd created a piece called After It Happened Redux.
We want to continue to work with these students - we've built such a great foundation and I know there's more we can do.
