DONAU115, LOCKDOWN 2, AND YOU

Lockdown 2 is here. For at least the month of November, and possibly longer, there will be no concerts or bar service at Donau115. But that doesn't mean we're going away. We're writing to make sure you're aware of a few exciting things in the works.

I - TACO KWEEN IS STILL OPEN FOR PICK-UP!

II - LOST NOVEMBER: CONCERTS THAT NEVER HAPPENED AT DONAU115

More than two dozen concerts have been cancelled. But Donau115 is also a lowkey minimal recording studio, so we're inviting many artists whose concerts were cancelled to come in and capture their performance with our coworker microphones. This audio will then be mixed and mastered by a team of volunteer audio engineers. The resulting album of live recordings will be uploaded to Bandcamp in December as an early Christmas present to the Berlin music scene. As with our Konzert Kanne, 100% of the revenue from this project goes directly to the artists. We will post more about this project as the details solidify over the coming weeks here:

III - MUSIC COWORKING SPACE

Over the summer, Donau115 bought a supply of microphones, preamps, cables, cameras, and microphone stands, and started renting our bar out as a recording/rehearsal/teaching space during the day. Joining as a coworker costs 110 euros per month for a combination of unlimited and scheduled daytime access. Some folks have been getting great recording work done; others have been teaching lessons on our piano to students and running Ableton workshops using our overhead projector and new QSC PA. We plan to continue offering this service throughout Lockdown 2 and beyond. IV - GOT ANY IDEAS?

We're very open to other ideas for collaboration with the hibernating music scene. We have a bar and a bunch of sound equipment that is often not being used right now. Maybe you want to make a music video. Maybe you want to record a track with our drum set, but not join as a full-time coworker. Maybe you want to have a fashion photo shoot. Maybe you want to do something so weird we could never predict it. If you have an idea, tell us about it by writing info@donau115.de and answering these questions:

1) How much time would you need? For example:
- "three hours per day for three days in a row" or
- "every Saturday morning from 10:00-11:30"

2) What parts of Donau would you use? For example:
- "the front room bar to shoot a music video with the piano" or
- "the back room and microphones to record saxophone overdubs on an album"

3) How much would this be worth to you? For example:
- "we have funding from Musikfonds and can offer to pay a ??? euro fee" or
- "we have no money but are willing to trade favors like publicity, equipment use, flyer handouts in the future, etc."
