About the author!

I was diagnosed with clinical depression after the loss of my mother, father and husband within three years of each other; all to cancer. 24/7 in-home care, coupled with the loss I felt, left its mark on my psyche.

Depression takes up a lot of my life. Reading and writing are the only things I have found that help (in connection with regular medication), even if only for a short time. To escape to a different world can make a big difference in my mood in real time.

To put things in perspective, when I was at my lowest point, I couldn't open mail, talk on the phone, or even drive to the store. Walls of sadness surrounded me. As they closed in, tears would fall. There didn't need to be a reason or trigger.

People ask me why I started writing. My answer is simple: I wanted to create a world into which other people with similar problems could escape. I wanted to share the one place that had helped me for many years.

I have always said that as long as one person finds a little bit of happiness out of my books, I am, in my opinion, an accomplished author. The same is true for every writer out there. Please don't ever let anyone tell you different.

I read books as well as write them and have visited the worlds many different authors have created. Those worlds not only make me feel better, but give me the strength to face real life again. I want to thank everyone who writes - I want them to know they are making a difference.

Thank you for reading and writing.

High Heels and Mistletoe by C.A. King is a sweet, feel-good Christmas romance that captures a little bit of the spirit of Christmas and wrapped it up in this wonderful package.
I am a big fan of Ms. Kings work and have enjoyed all her stories immensely- and so it came as no surprise that this book hit the mark for me as well. The story has all the ingredients you could want from a charming Christmas story- but there are also a few unexpected touches which gave the story an extra element of interest.
The premise behind the story is quite original and Ms. King cleverly crafted a story that had me invested right from the get-go. Full of charm, romance, a little Christmas magic, and just a little drama- made for a wonderful read.
Julietta is a marketing executive with an aversion to Christmas. In fact, she does everything she can to avoid it- going so far as to leave the country for a few weeks every year. You see, she has a severe allergy to mistletoe and can’t be anywhere near it without it causing her distress. With Christmas fast approaching, Julietta has her trip all booked, ready to escape the Christmas festivities. But then her boss puts her in charge of an important contract which must be signed before she leaves. Should be simple to get a signature, and then jump on her plane- right? Only her client isn’t so easy to wrangle. And to make matters worse- he embraces all things Christmas- loves the season and wants to share the joy with everyone. So you just know things will get interesting when these two opposites attract. But maybe they are exactly what the other needs? This story is well worth the read to find out.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a sweet Christmas story, anytime of the year!

Thank you, C.A. King!

I really enjoyed this book fro C.A. King, it's a great introduction into the holiday season. Ms. King's books are usually more fantasy or paranormal while this departure is more contemporary, with a bit of curse hanging in the background.
The female members of Julietta's family are cursed by clumsiness when in the vicinity of mistletoe. Julietta's defense is to spend the holidays on a tropical beach far away from traditional Christmas decorations. However, this year her boss threw a wrench in her plan by insisting she take on a lucrative contract before she leaves. It should be simple, talk to the client and get him to sign on the dotted line.
However, interacting with Luke Winslow is anything but simple. He's sexy as sin and looking for a date who won't cause a scandal like his previous Christmas Eve Gala date. While he is a rich man, his views on Christmas and family are very traditional and he treasures people who are important to him. And he is smitten by Julietta at their first accidental meeting, when she literally fell for him because he was carrying mistletoe.
The story that follows is full of fun, family, cheer, and chemistry. Ms. King's characters are well-developed and likable and the story is well-paced and full of holiday spirit. There are meddling parents, a pushy boss, an all-knowing chauffeur to help the couple find their way to their HEA. So grab a cup of hot chocolate and curl up with Luke and Julietta and get into the holiday spirit.

High Heels and Mistletoe is a great book to kick off the holiday season. It revolves around the magic of Christmas and a little bit of magical curses.
Julietta is a hard working woman with an aversion to Christmas. She usually spends the holiday in a tropical location...and she is ready to leave on this year's vacation. Unfortunately, she can't leave until she closes the deal on the Winslow account. Luke Winslow is not making it easy and her vacation is non-refundable.
Luke Winslow is a rich playboy that embraces everything that the Christmas season entails. He is also out to find a date to his family's Christmas Eve party that will make up for the debacle of last year. When he crosses paths with Julietta, she intrigues him from the beginning. When he finds out she is in charge of his account, he tries to woo her while hanging signing the deal over her head.
What ensues is a little bit of romance, quite a bit of humor, some personal growth, and a whole lot of Christmas magic. I enjoyed Julietta and Luke's characters. They both evolved in their own way throughout the book. I devoured this book in one sitting because I couldn't step away. I needed to know how it would all end up...and I was not disappointed. This is a good book to get into the holiday season.

High Heels and Mistletoe is a charming Christmas story that was a joy to read. A story that will entertain and thrill. It has a little bit of suspense, a curse to contend with, captures the very essence of the holiday season, and throws falling in love into the mix. Kisses aplenty. Drama filled fantasy. C. A. King is a clever little storyteller that can captivate the audience and leave a reader breathlessly entertained. The characters were a perfect blend of passionate, fun loving and charming. Lucas and Julietta are a power couple that on paper, were total opposites, but in reality, melted the pages with their chemistry, and left a lasting memory when the last page was read. A festive and fun read that can be enjoyed by many. 4 stars.

It’s a good Christmas themed romance by C.A. King. I really enjoyed her Wendigo Forest so was excited to start this. I really liked the characters in the book and you can’t help but root for Julietta when she begins to learn the joy of Christmas and Luke thinking he’s found what’s been missing in his life.
A curveball is thrown and I loved watching this two dance around each other, building their relationship and them growing together. It was so cute and sweet and I loved it!
Like its everything you want in a Christmas story, romance and magic you can’t help but love.
This is another great Christmas read and is really getting me in the mood for Christmas!

“High Heels and Mistletoe” is a perfect holiday read for all fans of romance with a touch of supernatural. Julietta has a strange aversion for mistletoe but with Christmas approaching, there’s no avoiding it, just like there’s no avoiding Luke Winslow - a customer her company covets. They say, the holiday season is a magical season; perhaps, it’s perfect timing to break an ancient curse and reunite the couple separated ages ago? Inspirational, uplifting, and so very sweet, this story will make a great addition to your holiday to-read list. Highly recommended!

My stars: 5 out of 5

I love Christmas romance movies. So when I saw this book and read the synopsis I knew I had to read it! Julietta is cursed, every time she comes near a mistletoe something bad happens. Such as breaking a high heel. C.A. King is a wonderful author. She makes you want to know if the curse will break or if this Christmas romance going to end. This story is filled with laughs, magic, and the warm, fuzzy feelings you get when watching a Christmas Hallmark movie. Honestly, this book should be made into a movie!!!

Absolute must read! I was hooked in the first chapter and could not put the book down. I love the way that C. A. King writes and how well the story flows. I am a sucker for holiday romances and this one is no exception! The author jumps right into the story and keeps you reading to see what happens next between Luke and Julietta. I highly recommend High Heels and Mistletoe for a feel good romance. I can't wait to read more from King!

Juliette is not a fan of Christmas and for good reason. All of the Romano women are cursed—by mistletoe. She can’t come within ten feet of it before clumsiness sets in. Because of this, Juliette has given up Christmas and all the trimmings. That is, until she’s assigned the Winslow case and meets Luke Winslow.

This is not a case of love at first sight considering the two meet over mistletoe and a broken heel incident. Luke is everything Juliette despises—a bad boy womanizer who loves everything about Christmas. But as she gets to know the real man and his heart, her Christmas spirit arises.

I loved the surprise ending of how the mistletoe curse is broken! High Heels and Mistletoe by CA King is a humorous, fun, and magical read.

This is a wonderful opposites attract romance with a festive feel. It’s the perfect book to read to help get you in the Christmas spirit! Set during the festive season, It’s up to the magic of the season to bring unlikely couple Julietta and Luke together “with a little help from a pair of High Heels and Mistletoe” Julietta Romero can not go within six feet of mistletoe due to an allergy which she calls a family curse. Julietta works as a top executive at a prestigious marketing firm and has an impressive five year running record, without a single incident. She spends from January to the beginning of December working and then takes all of her vacation time at the same time. Only this year days before she’s due to catch her flight she is still working all hours on her firm’s biggest deal to date. Her boss will not let her go on vacation until the deal is signed, sealed, and delivered. The only problem is Luke Winslow will not sign off on the business deal even though his father has instructed him to do so until he is sure that Julietta will not escape his charms. Until Julietta, Luke did not want to settle down and have a serious relationship and in fact his relationships only lasted a night at the most as he loved women, parties and the holidays. However, having met Julietta all that has changed and he is ready to settle down and he is determined to make sure that she wants the same thing.

I thoroughly enjoyed this Christmas romance and I found myself fully immersed in the story and was cheering Julietta and Luke on hoping they would get their happy ever after. The main characters were great, they were both so likeable, in their own ways, and realistic which made them relatable. The storyline flows nicely and the narrative moves the story along at a good pace making it an enjoyable and easy read. The plot has plenty going on to keep the reader engaged and I literally read the book in a couple of sittings as I was so keen to find out whether the couple would get over all their differences and the misunderstandings and get together or not. I loved this heartwarming and uplifting book and it definitely put me in the Christmas mood.

Christmas. The season of joy. Sure if the meaning of joy has turned to being saddled with an ancient curse that made Christmas time unbearable. While the local shops blaring out Mistletoe and Wine wouldn't cause Julietta Romero to break out in hives, the presence of mistletoe was a dangerous thing indeed. She'd got it managed, she'd avoided incidents for years, then some stupid idiot in the office decided it should be spruced up for the holidays and disaster struck. Worse still, some the desperate fool in the street witnessed her humiliation, and who would he be but the client her boss needs her to get signed. All she wanted to do was get away for Christmas, now she has to stay until he signs the deal. But he isn't playing fair, he hasn't even read the contract. He is everywhere, in her business, in her home, and haunting her dreams. She needs to get this playboy out of her mind, but it seems fate has other plans.

High Heels And Mistletoe is a wonderful Christmas themed romance by the talented C.A. King. I loved the characters in this book, you can't help but root for them Julietta starts to learn the joy of Christmas while Luke believes he has found the one thing that has been missing all his life. But fate often throws a curve ball. I loved watching how these two danced around each other, building foundations of something more and watching them grow together. It really is a great Christmas read, full of the spirit and joys that make that time of year great while weaving a tale of romance and magic you can't help but adore.

High Heels And Mistletoe (Kisses Under The Mistletoe)
By C.A. King
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book High Heels And Mistletoe (Kisses Under The Mistletoe) by C.A. King. It is a holiday story that made me smile and laugh, as well as giving me that warm feeling that the holidays are all about. I love the characters of Julietta Romero and Luke Winslow. Julietta is a woman who is intelligent, independent, and has a problem when mistletoe is around. She finds herself having to close a deal for the company she works for before she can take her vacation. It is then that she meets Luke. Luke is a man that has a reputation. He isn’t one to consider a relationship longer than one night. Then he meets Julietta. There is an attraction between them that can’t be denied. What does the future hold for Julietta and Luke? Read this book to find out. This is a story that will get you in the holiday spirit while also giving you reasons to laugh along the way. I grew to care about what happens to Luke and Julietta with each chapter that I read. They are characters that I rooted for them to find happiness. I also enjoyed reading about all of the additional characters and how they interacted with Julietta and Luke. The author does an amazing job of making the story come alive and I found myself not wanting to put the book down until the final page. Don’t miss out on a story that is entertaining and has moments that will touch your heart. I highly recommend reading it.

High Heels and Mistletoe is a great Christmas holiday romance novel from C.A. King. I have read a few of C.A. King’s book but all of those were from the paranormal/fantasy genre, so I was a new experience for me. I already knew that I was in for a great story as C.A. King is a great storyteller. I’m glad to say that I was right as I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.
Julietta is frantic as she normally goes on vacation at Christmas due to her allergy to mistletoe, however this year she’s in the middle of working on a huge deal and her boss wont let her away until this is signed and sealed. This makes for some very amusing scenes as Julietta comes close to mistletoe. Unlike some allergies which make you sneeze or come out in spots, mistletoe makes Julietta extremely clumsy. Her first meeting with the new client is made even better as he’s giving out mistletoe (along with his phone number) to pretty ladies to hopefully get a date for the family Christmas party.
I’m sure you can imagine how amusing that scene would be. Add that to many other humerous scenes between these two as their attraction to one another grows and you are in for a great book which will keep you engaged from the very beginning right up to the very end.
A bit of romance and humour, then add in Christmas and you get the recipe for a great book that I’d recommend others read.

Kisses Under The Mistletoe
By C.A. King

Full length romance novel. During the right season, Christmas, this book is top notch. Even though someone's plans don't go as someone thought. I just can't get over this sweet romance.

Juliette Romero's idea of Christmas, is to be as far away as she can. Having many reasons, being allergic to mistletoe or the family curse, she stays away. She even plans her vacations around Christmas. That was fine with her. But this year has a whole other plan, that is standing in her way. The name is Luke Winslow, the company's playboy and the boss's son. Luke has never hooked up with a woman more than a roll between the sheets. But for some reason Juliette has him intrigued. He must figure out how to get the girl. But she wants to get the job, signed, sealed and delivered. Then move on to her vacation. Then there is Luke. Guess you need to read this story to find out what happens, as there is no spoiler here. I'm sure you will love it, as I do.

Well C.A. King has got a sweet story here. A real page turner as well. The characters are people we know. OK not personally, but I know a few people just like them. I have read several of the books written by C.A. King. She never disappoints! C.A.King is my go too writer, as I always find something in her many books. Well Done C.A. King! Well Done!

High Heels and Mistletoe by C.A. King is a totally sweet Christmas story! I so enjoyed reading this book!

Julietta is not exactly a big fan of Christmas. She can’t quite be blamed. Her family does not have a good track record with mistletoe. Julietta has it down to a science though as long as she takes her vacation the same time each year. This year may be a challenge. She’s now working on the biggest deal her firm has had and it’s looking like that vacation might not happen. Luke happens to love the holidays and is really opposite Julietta for all intents and purposes. Luke never really wanted a relationship but the more time he spends with Julietta he’s rethinking everything. Will Julietta get over her dislike of the holidays and let the magic of the season work it’s charms?

This was such a sweet story, I couldn’t put it down! I couldn’t relate with Julietta 100% because I love Christmas but as the story went on, I could see she was warming up to it a bit. Definitely worth a read!

I was probably a little too excited when I saw CA King was releasing a holiday themed romance novel, but this book did not disappoint! I love CA King’s paranormal and sci-fi works so this was a gamble not really having any of those components included in it but this book rocked was the perfect way to kick off my holiday season. I grabbed some chai tea and curled up with my fav Christmas albums and dove right in. High Heels and Mistletoe brings us the story of Julietta and her slight cursed self with mistletoe. Of course in the holiday season mistletoe is everywhere and thus we have some some funny and interesting complications arise. The underlying romance story was fun and believable to follow. I found myself rooting for the happy ever after moment pretty early on in the story. I found myself cracking up at the witty humor as I followed the sweet romance that made me want to fall in love all over again this holiday season. I can’t wait to see what we may get next from the ever talented CA King.

High Heels and Mistletoe is a sweet book. The story is about a family who are cursed. Julietta doesn’t like the holidays. Not because she isn’t festive but because of mistletoe. I laughed at that part like mistletoe making her clumsy. It took me a minute to like her character. She was always grumpy to me. Like yes you have to make adjustments but it was not serious. Luke’s character was just as bad. I couldn’t take him seriously. Everything seemed like it was whimsical with him. I did like that he didn’t take himself too serious because he is rich. He was very thoughtful and considerate. I liked that the author talked about starting traditions. Like you can start something new it doesn’t has to be something that you’ve been doing for years. I really liked the authors writing style and how smooth the read was.

This is the perfect book to read at this time of year. What could be better than Christmas and romance? I really enjoyed this book. Aside from the ‘’curse’’, this is not the authors’ usual paranormal style. Juliette is not averse to Christmas per se but her strange allergy has her avoiding the holidays usually heading down south. Unfortunately this year her boss insisted that she sign the new Winslow account before she leaves. Luke Winslow is a hard man to pin down constantly avoiding the situation. As frustrated as she is, Juliette can’t help but fall a little every time she’s near him. Luke is practically the embodiment of Christmas spirit. He will bring forth your inner child and have you reminiscing of Christmas’ gone by. This is a wonderful story that captures the essence of the holidays and will have you wishing it was Christmas all year long.

High Heels and Mistletoe by CA King

Not my first read by King, but my first holiday read for the season. King really keeps a reader's attention and I love it. High Heels and Mistletoe is the perfect read!

Julietta gets a new client right before her vacation. Her boss needs a new contract signed and he puts her on the job. Until her family curse comes across. The quote I choose for Julietta is: “No, I’m acting like a lovesick puppy. I don’t know why he has this effect on me. Of course, I’m not the one.”

Luke is famous among the tabloids. When a girl falls into his arms outside the mall. He cant get her out of his mind and it's pure luck that her father invited him to their house. The quote I chose for Luke is: “You are still a Christmas naysayer, I see,” Luke mused. “I’ve made it my personal mission this year to change that.”

Highly recommended for Sweet Romance lovers.

There is definitely a attraction between the two . Can she get the deal closed on time ? What does the future look like for these two? I highly recommend reading this sweet holiday romance to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

High Heels and Mistletoe by C.A. King is a brilliant take on a holiday romance by on of my favourite authors. This book is completely different from everything I have read by this author previously and I absolutely loved it!! I think it has to be one of my favourites by far.
The story is sweet and entertaining, more than once I found myself chuckling at what was happening on the pages in front of me.
I loved the interaction between the main characters. They had such a chemistry and was evident right from the word go. I was instantly invested in their story and really wanted them to find their happy ending. The story itself was entertaining and well developed. This is the kind of book that you have to read in one sitting because you lose yourself so easily in the story. I would highly recommend this book to anyone!

The premise of the story (mistletoe making you clumsy) is completely ridiculous, but that is one of the things which makes this book fun. This isn’t the sort of thing I usually read, but I wanted something different and this hit the mark. I’m glad I chose it. It’s whimsical, light-hearted and thoroughly enjoyable. I relate to the main female character and think she is very well portrayed. If you have a friend or relative who is a ‘bah-humbug’ (like me), this is an ideal present for them. On the other hand, if they love celebrating Christmas, this book is just a good for them. Underneath the playfulness, there is a serious message about how Christmas should be celebrated (outside of the religious side).

I loved this Christmas romance story which has a paranormal touch to it as well. This is one of my favorites yet from this author. One of the things I love most about this author is her writing skills and her attention to details that makes the stories realistic. This book is no different. I was pulled in by Juliette and Luke. They made great characters which made the story easy to read and entertaining. Juliette goes on vacation at the same time every year but this year there is an obstacle in her way, Luke. He is attracted to her right from the start. Will the spirit of Christmas bring these two together? This story is full of romance, magic and comedy. I highly recommend this fast paced, engaging story.

High Heels and Mistletoe is a festive, romantic read by C.A. King.

Julietta has a somewhat strange problem. Due to a family curse, she spends Christmas avoiding any form of holiday cheer...mistletoe in particular.
Luke is an all-out Christmas fanatic, his lifestyle appears a little shallow at first, but he certainly knows how to celebrate Christmas as he loves everything about it. So, when their paths collide it was never going to be smooth sailing, but they can both learn a lot from each other.
This was a great Christmas themed book, perfect for this time of year to start getting me into the spirit of the season. I wasn’t sure about the characters at first, but I soon couldn’t stop reading and was completely invested in the story.

This is an okay read. I really wanted to love it as I enjoy all things Christmas....especially the books. This just seems to hit me wrong on a couple different areas. Luke seemed like an over eager puppy instead of a playboy or more mature. Maybe some insight to his thoughts in the beginning would have helped me with that. I really didn’t really *feel* anything for the characters.

Overall the story rolls along nicely. His grand gesture is simply wonderful. The cute romance story is a different Christmas idea. Julietta is a sassy character with a great family history and a little problem with mistletoe.

This was a lovely festive romance that really puts you in the mood for Christmas.

Julietta doesn't like Christmas. She never gets into the spirit of it and normally goes on holiday over Christmas. She has one major problem with it. She is allergic to mistletoe.

Luke  loves Christmas. He loves everything about it and all the meanings behind it. When he meets Julietta he is looking for a date. He never imagined that he would find his soul mate.

Can Luke teach Julietta about the magic of Christmas? Can he prove to her they are meant to be together? Or will it all be for nothing just a show of glitter and fairy lights.

Sweet Christmas Story!

This was a sweet Christmas story. Honestly it would make a great Hallmark movie. Mistletoe cursed Juliette and her family have always dodged Christmas. She has never decorated or celebrated the holiday. Then she meets Luke, a millionaire client, who shows her what Christmas is all about. From music, to picking the perfect tree, making ugly sweaters, choosing the perfect gift, family traditions… Luke shows Juliette it all. The spirit of Christmas is just what the two need to fall in love with each other. If you’re looking for a cute story and will get you in the Christmas mood, this is it!
