A South Lake Tahoe man has been arrested after a car salesman was stabbed during a test drive.

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office says about 11AM March 25, 2019, deputies were called to a report of a stabbing and carjacking on Tahoe Mountain Road in South Lake Tahoe. The victim said he was stabbed during a test drive by Jonathan Paget, the suspect. The victim got away and gave deputies a description of Paget, as well as the vehicle and direction Paget was driving. A deputy took the victim to a hospital in a patrol car. The Sheriff's Office says the victim is expected to survive.

Another deputy, headed south on Highway 89 along with the California Highway Patrol, saw the white Dodge Durango being driven by the attacker. CHP officers tried to pull over the Durango and chased it when the driver didn't pull over. The Durango driver crashed into a snow berm near the county line and the driver ran, but was caught by deputies.

Paget was arrested for attempted murder and carjacking.
