Tigers sign highly-talented transfer Chandler Rivers

The Grace Christian University men's basketball program has added another significant piece to their backcourt for the 2020-21 season, signing Chandler Rivers, a high-flying 6'0" guard out of Charlotte, NC. Chandler is the son of James and Vickie Rivers and a brother to Harrison.

As a freshman and sophomore at Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville, FL, he was the team's leading scorer both seasons and led them to a Regional Championship.  From there he went on to Adams State University in Alamosa, CO, playing a year of NCAA Division II basketball before making his way to Grand Rapids, MI to cap off his career as a Tiger.

"I chose to attend Grace because of the Christian atmosphere and it was a great choice to play as well as get my master's degree," commented Chandler, also noting the positive community and positive coaching staff as factors in his decision.

"I have never taken a senior transfer at Grace but if I am ever going to do it, it is for a player like Chandler," commented Grace Head Coach Gary Bailey. "His playing ability set aside, he is the kind of person that we love to have as a student-athletic at Grace.  It has been awesome to meet with Chandler and his parents.  He will be a great addition to our program.  As far as his play, he should make us better right out of the gate.  He is a well-balanced player that can score and distribute the ball to his teammates.  He can score it too!  He came up to play this summer and really fit in with the rest of the team.  We are really happy to have him in the program and we feel like he will bring us some welcome leadership."
