As soon as these two decided it was ok to equate President Trump with Hitler…
Yea, screw these fools. <3
Exactly the conversations I love
This podcast is filled with the things I love most about the board game hobby (and the things I do the most when I’m with my friends): 1) talk about games we’ve been playing 2) talk about the merits (and pitfalls) of games, resulting sometimes in pitched battles of opinion 3) wax poetic about game mechanics we love to see, want to see more of, or wish would fade away.
Pat and Tony bring earnest passion for the BG hobby that not only comes through in everything they do in the show, but also makes their reviews much more usable than other video or podcast reviews I’m used to.
Take for instance Furnace, A game I am quite interested in but not 100% sure if that interest will translate into table enjoyment for me and the people I play with. Instead of a review that simply boils down to whether or not the person or group enjoyed the game, there was an open discussion of the pros and cons throughout the review segment. While this might not result in a simplistic final line, encouraging me to either go right out and buy it or forget all about it, it gives me food for thought on both sides of the issue (which is even more valuable).
I was a late comer to this show (because there’s just so many shows in the BG space it’s impossible to always be able to find the good ones), but I have been massively enjoying listening back to the episodes about games I either own and love to hear what they think about it, or to games that have been residing on my “do I really want to seek this game out?” list to help me in the same way they did for Furnace (well, in that case, I’m still on the fence, so….)
So if you are reading this review now and don’t currently listen to the podcast, rest assured, if you want engaging, honest discussions about board games, you have a massive backlog of episodes that will keep you coming back again and again.
