The nurse life care planner has extensive training in nursing care across the continuum of life through nursing skills in healthcare, specialized training in case management, and life care planning education classes. Although many nurse life care planners specialize in pediatrics or elder care, all nurse life care planners consider care needs throughout the life span. This chapter discusses age-related concerns and considerations for care throughout the life span. The initial section focuses on the special needs for children and young adults. The second looks at the effect of aging on body systems and particular conditions often seen in life care planning for the adult through end oflife. Nursing diagnoses will be found in other chapters of this book as noted in the individual sections.
