'The Mourning Bride' is a 21st century Merseyside story of love, power, jealousy and revenge. It is Marlowe's Edward II as never seen before. A stage play following the twists and turns of excess, lust, and betrayal. Following a successful run in December 2019 this play has been extended to 90 minutes and returns to the Hope Street Theatre in March 2020.

Can anyone be trusted? Where will the power lie when the dust settles?
Adaptation written by Marjorie H Morgan
Directed by Zara Marie Brown
Cast: Kel Nkondock, Shannon Power, Charlotte Cumming, Neve McLaughlin, Caitlin Bradley

A rejected woman is to be avoided, but what happens when the whole cast is made up of women?

"Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned."

William Congreve (1697) The Mourning Bride

"Morgan’s script flows really well with sharp and on-the-ball dialogue throughout .... a lively piece with some great evocative moments."
