Accessible Entrances

The Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art’s location in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood is wheelchair accessible via the front entrance on 26 Wooster Street.

What to note about our accessible entrance:

• Five external steps lead to our entrance doors; a wheelchair lift is available.

• At the bottom of the front steps is a call button that, once activated, will notify the front desk staff to assist in operating the wheelchair lift. Following the initial guidance of Museum staff, wheelchair-users have the ability to steer the lift on their own.
• The wheelchair lift has a 495lbs. weight limit
• The interior of the museum has dim warm lighting for a projector. The lighting becomes brighter once entering the galleries

Accessible Drop Off Areas

Just past the Leslie-Lohman Museum, near 18 Wooster Street, is an accessible drop off area. There are also curb cuts on the corner of Wooster Street and Grand Street, as well as on the corner of Wooster Street and Canal Street. Please note that while drop off on Wooster Street is possible, parking on Wooster Street is very limited. There are, however, nearby parking garages. The closest garages are located at 355 Canal Street (~1-minute walk), 311 West Broadway (~3-minute walk), and 40 Mercer Street (~5-minute walk).

The nearest accessible subway station for multiple trains is Broadway-Lafayette St. off the B, D, F, or M trains, approximately .6 of a mile away from the museum. More information on accessible stations can be found here.

Accessible and All-Gender

Restrooms

The Leslie-Lohman Museum has two restrooms: a single-occupancy, accessible restroom located behind the visitor services desk, and a multi-occupancy, non-wheelchair-accessible restroom located in the gallery. Both museum restrooms are gender-inclusive. Please note that neither restroom offers a changing table.

Directions to wheelchair-accessible restroom:

• Facing the visitor services desk, follow the hallway that leads into the right-hand gallery space
• Rather than proceed into the gallery, take your first left to enter the kitchenette  
• On the back wall is a single-occupancy, wheelchair-accessible, and gender-inclusive restroom
• The door to the restroom is dark gray and has a white sign that reads “All Gender Restroom”

Directions to non-wheelchair-accessible restroom:

• Facing the visitor services desk, turn left and proceed into the gallery space
• Upon entering the gallery, immediately turn right and follow the wall to its rear
• On the back wall is a multi-occupancy, gender-inclusive restroom. Please note that this restroom is not wheelchair-accessible
• The door to the restroom requires a push to enter and there is a step-up into the room
• The door is the same color as the walls and it has a white sign that reads “All Gender Restroom”

Leslie-Lohman Museum Access

The Leslie-Lohman Museum is accessible for guests using mobility devices. Please note that staff will work with individuals and groups who disclose accessibility needs in advance to accommodate them to the best of our ability.

Access measures we have in place for the Museum:

• Large Print didactics are available at the visitor services desk to make the exhibition more accessible to those with low-vision
• We’re using Bloomberg Connects for the exhibition Dreaming of Home, with an audio guide developed by artist educator Paula Stuttman and Museum Staff. The official digital guide can be found here.

• Stools and seating are available in each gallery
• Service animals are welcome

• Visitors with disabilities and seniors are admitted with their caregiver
