NYC: Broadway/restaurants/shopping tips/transfers from and to JFK
Hi!! I finally got tickets for hairspray and tarzan!!! I looked up for tickets for A chorus line but there were no good ones available...
for restaurants, after all the recomendations I think we'll go to the Red Flame for breakfast (which by your messages I understand it's near our hotel) and I think we'll try cafe boulud for dinner one day...
any shopping tips? we'll definatelly see all the 5th av. shops, go to barneys and 21st century. Any advice on Soho? any original shops for earrings/necklace and this type of accesorize? I'll go to Scoop though it's expensive..any new shop I should visit? I'm 31 and although quite classic, have a fashion side too..
By the way is it worth going to the malls outside nyc? I've never been and don't know if it's a MUST..
I've asked the hotel for transfers and are really expensive, do you Know any cars that do this service? (Reliable!!)
thanks for everything

Do not waste your time with the malls outside Manhattan ... the greatest shopping in the world is on Madison/Fifth/57th/etc.
If you like new designers, check out EdgeNY in NoHo.
www.edgeny.com
You'll find great shopping all over SoHo, from chains on Broadway to higher end on West Broadway to boutiques on the smaller streets.
From the airport to Manhattan: www.dial7.com
Enjoy NYC!

If you mean transfers to/from the airport, I like limores.net There's also carmellimo.com
For shopping, Scoop and Calypso are good for trendier things and both have shops in Soho as well as elsewhere. In addition to Century 21, if you're a real shopper, Daffy's and Loehmann's can also be good.
For jewelry there are dozens of places depending on the style you like. If you're talking about "real" jewelry, Mish is a beautiful store with beautiful things.

For costume/fun jewelry, there's a chain called Laila Rowe with several locations that has fun, inexpensive things.
http://www.lailarowe.com/accessories/
You'll also find some good buys on the street.
The mall issue is a hard one to answer. If you're a serious shopper, you might want to consider Woodbury Commons since there are some high end places there like Chanel, Gucci, YSL.

But it is probably a full day commitment given the distance and the bus costs $35/person.
I do agree with Gekko that this place can be a fun stop on a weekend. Up and coming designers for clothes and accessories in Noho.

Anthropologie might be another good place for you. Really pretty clothing and jewelry, lingerie, etc., and a bit more moderately priced than Scoop or Calypso. It's easy to pop in while you're shopping SoHo. It's at W. Broadway and Broome.

We always like a walk thru this market of clothing, jewelry, handbags, etc - Soho - we always find something different - and usually at least one or two finds of interesting earrings, etc !
The market at 286 Mulberry St 9 (at Prince) St. Patrick Youth Center on Mulberry St @ Prince, from 11am till I think 5 or 7pm, every Saturday - . and these websites gives you a map, etc and tell you about it:

If you must do a mall thing - I'd check out Garden State Plaza in Paramus NJ. I'm sure there are plenty of buses at Port Authority to take you there. Sometimes I do my Christmas shopping there to just get it done and over with all in one (well two) loops.

If you're looking for discount shopping, you can do outlet shopping in Woodbury Commons, upstate NY. There's a bus from Port Authority. They have all designer name brands at sale price. It's worth a trip.
