Can anyone here offer some input as to why DCFS took over 40 children from
their homes and had to take the children out in handcuffs?

Http://www.CPSWatch.com (Cuz the state doesn't parent too well)

I thin' so...

State law requires removal upon evidence (maybe just allegation?) of
abuse, while charges are investigated. The Rev. Allen, sensing a
media bonanza, encouraged church members to obstruct the officers
carrying out their duties.

Can anyone explain why these distraught parents refused to telephone
their children for two months? DFCS encouraged communication, but it
would appear Rev. Allen discouraged it...

What is the effect on the children, when they realize, conciously or
subconsiuosly, that their parents do not care enough to look into
their welfare after they are dragged off to foster homes by DFCS ant
the police?

What will happen the next time children are ritually beaten, and
hauled off to neighboring states at 14 years of age, to be married to
people 10 years older than them?

IMNSHO, that's the ~real~ tragedy. Rev. Allen, by refusing to
cooperate, created this fiasco. DFCS and the court pleaded with him
to agree to simple conditions, but he refused. His right to do so, I
suppose, but it makes him look more like another Jim Jones than a
~real~ preacher.

Then, when politics reard its ugly head, everyone forgot about the
children...

*sigh*

Because there were allegations of serious abuse, and DFACS is in a no-win
situation. Every time a child is beaten to death by a parent, they take no
end of shit for not getting the child out sooner. Damned if they do,
damned if they don't.

:and had to take the children out in handcuffs?

Children don't always want what's best for them. Sometimes adults, whether
parents or government officials, have to force children to do things they
don't want to for their own good. Children love their parents, even if
they're abusive. It's like Elian -- most Americans believed he should be
handed over to his father, but a lot changed their minds because the
pictures looked bad.
