ARMED cops and specialist officers have lockdown a North Glasgow street after a young man was seriously injured after a disturbance. 
 

The 23-year-old was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition following the incident. 

The area surrounding Firhill Street was cordoned off from early this evening with residents told they could not access their homes.

One local said: "The police won't let anyone down the street. I live there and have to wait before I am allowed in."

Another added: "There are armed police all parked alongside the student accommodation near Firhill Stadium. Police were on the ground looking for something. I think something big has happened."

A police spokesman said: “Police were called around 5.15pm on Thursday March 12, 2020, after a report of a disturbance on Firhill Street, Glasgow.

"A 23-year-old man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries where his condition is described as stable.

“Enquiries which are at an early stage are ongoing. There are additional police patrols in the area to provide public reassurance and anyone with concerns should speak to officers.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 2640 of Thursday 12 March.”
