PS41 Volunteer Form

Volunteer! It is fun. It is important. Each year the PTA organizes numerous community-building and fundraising events to support and augment every PS41 student’s education. There is something for everyone, whether you are at stay-at-home parent or working parent. The general time span for each job is indicated in parentheses. Please check whatever interests you submit this form at your earliest convenience (or by September 18 if you are interested in being Class Parent).

Annual Auction & Gala: An elegant evening out on March 20 with cocktails, dinner, a silent and a live auction, it is the biggest, most important fundraiser of the year. From soliciting donations to organizing the auction, everyone’s help is needed. (Dec–Mar)

Art and Poetry Calendar: The PTA creates and sells a beautiful calendar full of student-generated artwork and poetry. Help is needed scanning, proofreading, and selling. (Sep–Dec)

Book Fairs: Our week-long December and April book fairs need many cheerful helpers to help the kids (and fellow parents) select and purchase books. (Dec, April)

Class Parent: Limited to 2 per class. Class parents help foster community within the class, keep fellow parents informed, attend PTA general meetings and volunteer for PTA events. (Year round) Please note that we often have more requests than we are able to accommodate.

Family Portrait Day: Families can have portraits taken by a professional photographer for holiday cards and gifts. Outgoing, organized volunteers are needed the weekend of November 3-5. (Early Nov)

Monster Mash: Our October 28 Halloween extravaganza is a student favorite. From the planning stage to the day-of, many volunteers are required to create an amazing haunted house, craft and food tables, games, and much more. (Late Sep–Oct)

Music Committee: Our Music Committee works to supplement curriculum and support community building through a variety of projects including assemblies, field trips, and family events. (Year Round)

Photo Day: Traditional school photos of every child and class will be taken in September. Organized volunteers are needed to plan the event and troubleshoot. (mid Sep–Oct)

PTA Office Administration: Help out in the PTA office when your schedule permits, on a regular basis or sporadically. There is always something to be done and it is fun. (Year round)

Talent Show: This special event on May 19 showcases the kids performing on stage. Your talents in decor, baking, and stage management are needed. (Apr–May)

Wellness Committee: This committee supports the Wellness in the School lunch program, the PS41 Farmers’ Market and more. (Year round)

Winter Wonderland: Our second party for all the students on February 2, this winter bash needs many dedicated volunteers to organize the games, crafts, food, music and dancing. (Jan-Feb)

41 Cares: Members of this community service committee organize outreach programs and collection drives for pediatric hospitals, senior centers and other worthy causes. (Year round)

41 News: The PTA publishes a school newsletter three times a year. Volunteer writers, editors, and photographers are needed. It is a great way to get to know what is going on in the school. (Year round)
