Anyone have an over/under on the amount campaigns are going to spend on legal assistance in the first quarter of 2020?

  2. - Just Me - Friday, Feb 21, 20 @ 9:42 am:

I just realized this week that Patti Blagojevich blocked me from her twitter account. Presumably because I used to enjoy calling out her lies.

  3. - Captain Rutro - Friday, Feb 21, 20 @ 9:43 am:

If MM goes down, predictions for replacement as speaker?

  4. - PublicServant - Friday, Feb 21, 20 @ 10:06 am:

Beautiful “Morning in Illinois” today. Thanks JB.

Was really bummed when I went to early vote in the 18th CD and found the Dems do not have anyone as a placeholder on the ballot against Darin LaHood.

I get it that the 18th CD is a GOP vote sink and all but still when the head of the DCCC is from Downstate Illinois it would be nice if the party could’ve put some slight effort into filling out the entire federal ballot so at least the party knew better how to maximize advantage for the 2022 remap.

Not to mention how nice it would have been if the party had bothered giving those of us loyal Dems who have the misfortune of living a few blocks away from a swing district the chance to register our loathing for our Republican Congressman.

Of course, it also would be nice if we had a full-time Illinois Democratic Party chair who is not so distracted by all the subpoenas, lawsuits, and indictments flying at his friends and associates.

Oh well saves me the trouble of giving any money to the DCCC the rest of this cycle

I found it intriguing, the discussion to Governor Pritzker’s optimism and the need to seemingly want that to be a negative thing, to exude optimism.

Leaders can choose to lead by anger and gloom and a giving up but “still pushing through”, but what’s important now, I feel, is this idea that facing serious challenges, even stumbling through some challenges, can still be something with positive outlooks for Illinois.

It’s as though being positive is someone ignoring the challenges and negativity that can surround those challenges.

Happy warriors can fight just as hard for a better Illinois than a gloomy Gus. The gloomy Gus, however, has a tougher time being a leader of people looking for hope.

    Blago’s options for gainful employment:

    - lecture circuit
    - (ghost)writing a book
    - Trump cabinet or white house post

    Anything else?

  8. - Anyone Remember - Friday, Feb 21, 20 @ 10:21 am:

    Nick Name

How about being the spokesman for some male hair product(s) company? /s

  9. - Skeptic - Friday, Feb 21, 20 @ 10:24 am:

Nick Name: How about that ambassadorship he didn’t get from Obama?

LOL, there’s always that. “Spray away the gray!”

    Nick Name

How about ethics adviser for President Trump?

  12. - Rabble - Friday, Feb 21, 20 @ 10:42 am:

For Blago: Ambassador to his alternate reality.

  13. - Ron Burgundy - Friday, Feb 21, 20 @ 10:47 am:

Ambassador to some remote country without modern communication would be good.

As for a book, I think that is out considering his last one debuted in the bargain bin.

  14. - Amalia - Friday, Feb 21, 20 @ 10:53 am:

very excited to hear that WGN will be carrying Fire matches. It’s not Bundesliga or Premier League, but I’ll take football on a tv I can take out to the deck.

  15. - Ron Burgundy - Friday, Feb 21, 20 @ 11:00 am:

Never thought I’d see the day when the Fire (the new logo and colors are terrible) has better local TV coverage than the Cubs.

Why are the wheels running off DePaul? They looked so promising.

  17. - Curious - Friday, Feb 21, 20 @ 11:06 am:

Is there any polling on the Cook States Attorney race?

  18. - Ron Burgundy - Friday, Feb 21, 20 @ 11:07 am:

—Why are the wheels running off DePaul?—

To me it looks like the coaching isn’t getting it done. The talent is better than the results. I think they need to clean house in their athletic department and stop running it like a small time Mom and Pop business.

  19. - 10th Ward - Friday, Feb 21, 20 @ 11:43 am:

@Anon and RB, as an alum, I think I can speak to many fellow alumni that until they get rid of Jean Lenti Ponsetto, the men’s program will continue to stink.

  20. - Maryjane - Friday, Feb 21, 20 @ 12:30 pm:

I visited with Lindsey Lapointe when she stopped by the house a couple of days ago. She’s the first Illinois politician I have met and she made a positive impression on me.

    Host of “The New Apprentice.”

Or “Daddy’s Home State: The Prequel.”

  23. - Oswego Willy - Friday, Feb 21, 20 @ 3:23 pm:

    ===… Home State===

    - Leatherneck -

    We can’t afford him.

He has this thing about him and he thinks it…. golden.

  24. - revvedup - Friday, Feb 21, 20 @ 4:20 pm:

Lecturer on Alternative Reality? With his stance that he a victim of a corrupt criminal justice system, he’d be a natural.
