Faith Story™: making an eternal difference

Carol recently shared her Faith Story™ experience with all of us at ALOA.

Grandmother&grandsonSeveral times, Carol’s six grandchildren had urged her to “tell her story.” When she got connected to ALOA’s Faith Story project and recorded a 30-minute video testimony, she intended to watch the video individually with each grandchild. One grandson, 19 years old at the time, visited to view the video with her. This grandson had been struggling with his faith journey, and Carol hoped that hearing her story would help him.

As they watched the video, she was pleased to see that he was captivated by the story. Carol hoped that by seeing it, he would realize that “even if we walk away from God, God never walks away from us.” As he told her,  “I learned so much about you,” and hugged her he said, “I love you.” What an awesome moment!

Six weeks later, Carol’s grandson was in a car accident and was killed instantly. Carol shared, “I hope that when he went to meet Jesus, he was ready, and I believe he was.” What a great witness Carol was able to provide not only to her family, but also to all of us through ALOA’s Faith Story project.

Through Faith Stories and other resources, ALOA strengthens ministry to, with and for older adults. To continue to develop and share projects like this, which have the potential to truly impact the lives of those we serve, we need the help and support of people like you. It is through your unrestricted gift to ALOA that this ministry can accomplish so much.

As ALOA continues to encourage older adults to affirm their gifts and use those gifts in service to family, church, community and the world, I ask you to consider a gift of $50 or $100 – more if you are able – as God has blessed you.

May God bless your celebrations of Advent, Christmas and New Year into 2020.
