Tbilisi City Hall has purchased around 10 thousand different trees in a campaign to green up the city.

The campaign will continue until the end of November.

Mayor Kakha Kaladze says city hall is planning to green up more than 97 thousand square meters in the capital.

We promised our residents to plant more trees. This is a step forward to implement our commitment. Similar projects are important and essential to prevent air pollution. Tbilisi is going green and will soon become an ecologically clean city with a healthy and attractive environment”, deputy mayor of Tbilisi Maia Bitadze said today at Vake park.

The species of trees were chosen by specialists taking into account the Tbilisi landscape. Among the species are cherry laurel, acacia, juniper, buxus, ash-tree, deodar, Japanese sophora, Japanese privet, maple and olive.
