The Goldwater Institute is threatening to launch a misdirected lawsuit at the victims. In Arizona, there are more than 2,000 classrooms without teachers due to unconscionable pay and poor working conditions. Districts and educators without adequate funding offer students antiquated technology (the average TUSD computer is twelve years old) and insufficient staffing for nurses, counselors and social workers.
School libraries are shuttered or staffed by teacher aides who lack the training to help classroom teachers prepare students for success in the information technology age. With current school district funding below 2008 figures, who has violated their constitutional obligations to educate children? There can be only one response to this question: Arizona’s elected officials: Gov. Doug Ducey and his Legislature.
