Regional bickering is about to kill transit progress, yet again!!
The legislature is debating a Regional Transit Authority – an agency to finally bring southeast Michigan together to make real progress improving public transit. This is absolutely critical, yet some Detroit and Oakland County officials are opposing it, refusing to share control and funding.
Help ensure real transit progress - tell your elected officials that regional cooperation is critical to transit progress; they must pass the Regional Transit Authority today!
Step 1) Go to
http://house.michigan.gov/find_a_rep.asp and enter your zip code to get your legislator’s phone number (and email address).
Step 2) Call your legislator. Here's a script of what you can say:
"Hi, my name is _________. I live in ____ (city). I’m calling because I want to see real progress on public transit. Can I count on the representative to support the bills to create a Regional Transit Authority in Southeast Michigan?"
(If they say definitely yes, thank them!)
Step 3) Tell us what they said, including any particular questions or concerns, by answering the questions below.
Thanks!!
