We recently connected with Jose Nissan Cohen and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jose , thanks for joining us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
I believe that we are spiritual beings carried by the most luxurious car that God can give to us. Our own body.
And with a purpose of growth in all areas of our life. As a Spirit that we will take the knowledge to followings eternal life.
And by that we have our own time to learn and experience what we are building for our own.
With a purpose to go to the next level. So I don’t wish that I had started sooner or later. I am sure that I started in the right Divine time for me.
At the end of 2009 in my last semester of college for Marketing.
In which allowed me to have the perfect commercial photography perspective in Advertising and Fashion in the beginning of Social Media era.
Every client such as company, portrait, real estate photography or product, I was giving my comercial professional perspective eye view, and it was and still is very successful.
My clients would have and still have a major profit with my image quality and innovative comercial perspective.
Jose , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Photography has always been my favorite subject to the point that I took it up at the University of Rio de Janeiro as my career path.
At first, I started in an Advertising post-production photography studio.
Editing high-end photos for national advertising campaigns as an intern, In Brazil.
Time was short for me due to the amount of work. I barely had time to see my family or go out with my friends.
But I always had the vision of where I wanted to be. So for me, I knew that giving up those past nights of going to the club would give me something special in the future. Plus, I was very passionate about what I was doing. So I was working with love and hope for a brighter future.
To be working as much, for me, wasn’t as bad as my friends thought it was.
Being a workaholic since the beginning allowed me to tap into a a very good unique characteristic that Is the perfectionism. To be able to analyze what the client wants and talk about ideas before the photoshoot, and me work on his Ideas, in my perfectionist way and surprise the client manifesting the results in images that the client really wants, or exceeding he’s expectations.
Gets me to an extreme nirvana feeling of Job done successfully.
True Story, I once was visiting Brickell City Center shopping for clothes.
And unexpectedly a client calls me to go to an emergency photoshoot because the previous photographer hired couldn’t manifest what the client wanted. The set up of lights where completely not satisfying the client and or the model wasn’t feeling very comfortable with the photo session.
Client calls me. And I am close by, and with my camera. That is always close to me.
I run to the photo session, fix all the settings and accomplish what the client really needed for her campaign.
It makes me feel very proud of my self when situations like that happens makes me feel like super hero and I saved the day of that person with light, camera and specially my action.
Now recently received my American citizenship I pretend to expand and segment more my photography business to Architecture photography and even more to the fashion market.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Immigrant on its own, it’s a full plate story of resilience. Specially because my career was already on autopilot in my fatherland.
Came to America with a dream to grow in every areas of my life took allots of courage, bravery and most importantly resilience as I have already mention.
Due to political issues Brazil was facing in the year of 2016, and also mixing up with my will to come live in the United States of America.
I came without expectation In vacation to stay a month in my sisters house as a tourist, when my vacation time here was ending she asked me if I wanted to stay more due to Brazil’s difficult times.
I said yes and had to conquer the photography market all over again for my self.
Reinvent my self wasn’t easy but I made through the storm with my Family help.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Express the soul in a photo / art form.
Me working with photography, that I consider my specific art. Open thousands of possibilities to express it in photo form or maybe in the future to express as a musician, acting or even sculpting.
For me, to express my self in art form is sharing a gift from me to the world.
There is many people in America and in the world that needs to see or feel art. Social media nowadays makes this extremely possible.
Great part of the humanity is focused in working or family and never finding time, or will to express them selfs in different forms or ways, or take one step outside of this life that I call squared life. In which is not wrong or right is just my perspective.
Thats where I share also my gift to the world. Not only to creatives, but. Bringing light in a photo, video / art form to the people that have the “squared life”. Even with my comercial photography.
