Rocker’s stalker jailed

MALIBU — A 39-year-old Ohio woman who violated a 1997 court order to stay away from former Guns ‘n Roses lead singer AXL ROSE was sentenced to one year in jail Monday.

Superior Court Judge Lawrence Mira sentenced KAREN MCNEIL for violating probation, the same day trial began on a charge she stalked Rose last month.

Rose called Los Angeles County sheriff s deputies at 8 p.m. May 16 to report a stalker was trying to enter his property.

Rose was not in court Monday, but his personal assistant, Betta Lebeis, testified at McNeil’s probation violation hearing. She said McNeil had been to Rose’s property at least six times in the past four years. The court order barred her from being within 300 yards of Rose’s home.

McNeil has been jailed in lieu of $150,000 bail.

Rose’s alleged stalker breaks her probation

MALIBU — An Ohio woman accused of stalking former Guns ’n Roses lead singer Axl Rose for about four years was found in violation of her probation Monday for showing up again outside the rocker’s Malibu mansion.

Karen Jane McNeil, 39, also was ordered to stand trial on stalking charges stemming from the alleged incidents. Superior Court Judge Lawrence Mira immediately began picking a jury.

McNeil is accused of trying to get into the singer’s Latigo Canyon Road mansion last month. The terms of her probation from a 1997 stalking conviction require that McNeil stay at least 300 yards from Rose’s home. McNeil allegedly has managed to get onto the singer’s property six or seven times over the past several years. Once, she followed a gardener through the gate and found Rose playing his guitar in the kitchen, police said.

She has told authorities that she believes that she is Rose’s wife and that the rocker communicates with her telepathically, according to prosecutors.
