Born in Israel in 1978, Shlomo Hatuka is a poet, musician, and activist. He has published three books of poetry: "Mizrah Yarah" (2014), "Island" and "Continent" (2020), and he regularly presents and edits radio programs on culture and poetry for the Israel Broadcasting Corporation. In addition, he heads Amram, a social justice organization that aims to shed light on the Yemenite, Mizrahi and Balkan Children Affair, in the course of which thousands of toddlers were kidnapped or disappeared in the 1950’s from the families of new immigrants to Israel from Yemen, as well as Iraq, Tunisia, Morocco, The Balkans and other countries.

Hatuka will discuss poetry and art as political expression and reflect on his work as a Mizrahi activist focused on the experience of Jews from the Middle East, West Asia, and North Africa.
