Big dog becomes mayor of small Colorado town

Georgetown, Colorado elected a new mayor — and he’s a good boy!

Clear Creek County swore in Parker the Snow Dog as the Honorary Mayor of Georgetown Tuesday.

“It was a packed house Tuesday Night at the Georgetown Community Center for Parker’s Inauguration Ceremony,” Clear Creek County posted on Facebook.

“Police Judge Lynette Kelsey administered the Mayor oath to Parker the Snow Dog.”

Georgetown’s furry new leader arrived to his swearing with a tie, glasses and a wagging tail.

Parker was unanimously voted the honorary mayor by the town Board of Selectmen on February 11. His website says “he is committed to bringing hugs, love, and cookies to the people of Georgetown.”

But honorary mayor isn’t the only local job on Parker’s resume. He is also the official mascot of Loveland Ski Area, and can be seen hanging out with the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies and news personalities all over the country. Parker also is passionate about Colorados’ disabled community and acts as a therapy dog at Rocky Mountain Village Easterseals camp.

Mayor Parker has over 16,800 followers on Instagram, where he shares his activities and appearances.
