  • Friendly site in the grounds of historic Stretton House
  • A 10-minute drive from Pickmere Lake; and 20 minutes from Manley Mere
  • Farm shop nearby; barbecues and firepits allowed
If you like the sound of having farm shops and ice cream farms nearby, as well as access to lots of walking and cycling trails, Stretton House Campsite should be a fine pick for you. It has a strict no noise policy after 10pm, meaning that you should get a peaceful night's sleep too. This site is in the grounds of the 400-year-old Stretton House surrounded by the Cheshire countryside with handy transport links nearby and outdoor activities in no short supply… that includes things like alpaca walking, golf or Manley Mere’s watersports haven (a 20-minute drive away for the latter). You’ll have your pick of two fields, both with car parking by the pitch free of charge and dogs allowed. There are basic facilities including a mobile freshwater toilet block with male and female facilities and a water standpipe. You’ll have permission to start up a barbecue or firepit too (subject to the correct safety measures). When you’re ready to get going, the friendly owners will be willing to help out however they can and suggest possible days out, which may include fishing or walking at Pickmere Lake (10 minutes’ drive), visiting an ice cream farm (within 10 minutes’ drive of the site) or going to the local golf course (five minutes’ drive). For food, there’s a farm shop just two minutes’ walk away from the site where you’ll be able to get your hands on local produce. Pubs aren’t far away either – there is one pub five minutes' walk away, and another 15 minutes' walk away. Festival goers are very welcome, and the Creamfields Festival site is five minutes’ drive away. Please respect the quiet hours (no noise is permitted after 10pm) and environment, as the owners' home is on the grounds (and stick to the field's facilities only).

Liked: Lovely little popup campsite. Mostly quiet (we were there while the creamfields festival was on) Basic toilet block, but always clean and stocked with toilet roll and soap. Friendly owners. We had the whole field to ourselves for the last night, so the kids enjoyed playing without disturbing anyone!

Liked: The proximity to creamfields. Meant we could camp overnight before and after the festival so we could enjoy it all that more and have a few drinks. Campsite also offered lifts to and from the festival for a fiver each. Aslong as you are respectful on this site you are left to do as you please. We had campfires going both nights until the early hours which was nice. Paul was also always available to answer any questions over WhatsApp if we needed anything.

Disliked: No showers. However we knew that anyway and knew there wouldn't be any. But obviously if we had a choice then we'd choose them. But for what we needed it didn't really matter anyway.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Very close to the venue we were attending. From the beginning Paul was a great host, contacting before and throughout the stay to support our stay. It was exactly how explained, lots of space, very easy to find. Clean facilities and quiet. Paul had also organised transport for us, making the while trip much easier, himself and Sarah were very kind and were even happy to collect us from the venue later that day. Overall great experience, no issues at all, I just wish I had known about Stretton House years ago.....

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Absolutely great to go to for a night or 2 I went with my friends and had a good time, there are toilets on site which is great and there filled with toiletries and are quite posh actually. It’s a cute little stay and if you have dogs there’s a little dog park.

Disliked: The only thing is it was £30 per tent and there wasn’t much to do on site
