NEW ORLEANS: We are raising funds to provide emergency relief during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are an autonomous collective of local organizers with ties to multiple working groups in the city, operating out of the Cat’s Claw collective space in New Orleans’ 8th Ward.. A combination of factors makes the working class, particularly those affected by white supremacy, incarceration, queerphobia and ableism, especially vulnerable in this city. As the city and country shuts down over the coming days and weeks, it is crucial that we build robust mutual aid networks that can support the elderly, the immunocompromised and the vast group of hospitality workers who have no safety net.

In the coming days we will be rolling out an aid request form for grocery and prescription delivery, especially prioritizing those who are immunocompromised and the elderly in order to reduce their exposure to COVID-19.

Right now, we are asking for monetary donations to assist us in redistributing resources. All funds raised will go towards emergency relief resources which will be distributed to New Orleans’ most vulnerable. We will also need volunteers to make this happen. If you are healthy and feel comfortable please fill out our volunteer sign up form.

This is a crisis of capitalism, of property, of profit, and of white supremacy as much as it is one of health. Now more than ever we must dig in and build intense and sustaining solidarity amongst ourselves. This pandemic shows us our health is truly interconnected, and together through mutual aid and care we can reduce the impact this will inevitably have on our lives.
