Join us for a full day focused on the Science of Reading. Dr. Ethan Lynn with Reading Horizons will share about the Science of Reading and English Language Learners in the morning, and we will have a roundtable discussion with local reading specialists in the afternoon.

DESCRIPTION:

From 9-11 a.m., Dr. Lynn will examine the difficulties associated with learning to read English from a multilingual perspective; teach pronunciation, decoding, and vocabulary among other important pedagogical elements, and provide an outline of salient linguistic elements to develop classroom application that promotes long-term skills retention and promotes fluency in reading.

Lunch will be provided from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. onsite.

In the afternoon, there will be a sharing of resources from those across our region who have implemented a science of reading framework. Panelists include Instructional Coaches and Reading Specialists from around the ECESC region. The roundtable will be a casual format of panelists sharing what has worked best for their schools. After sharing resources, there will be a question and answer session for you to gather the information you need to make your next school year successful in the Science of Reading implementation.
