SoCal Cyber Cup Mentor Registration (Closes April 15th, 2022)

Thank you for your interest in being a Mentor for the upcoming SoCal Cyber Cup! Please complete the below registration information. Requirements to be a Mentor:
- Ability to work with high school and middle school students
- Interest in the field of cybersecurity
- Availability to support and be responsive to your team/mentee

Please select the role you'd like to register for. *

Team Mentor: Participate in up to 20 hours of mentor training. Training can be taken synchronously or asynchronously. Complete any forms required by the assigned team’s school and school district. Help prepare your assigned team for the competition by: Provide training to your assigned team on core cybersecurity and competition topics. Assign asynchronous training to your assigned team. Mentors will be provided training material and guidelines but should customize for your assigned team’s needs. Regularly meet with your team during your regularly schedule training sessions. If the mentor misses more than 3 training sessions in a row you will not be eligible for the stipend. Specific schedule will be coordinated with the team coach. Meetings can be virtual. Answer questions via email.

Topic Mentor: Topic mentors provide training an expertise on a specific topic area listed below: Networking | Operating Systems | Incident Response | Cryptography | Programming. Each topic will have 2-5 mentors assigned and they will work as a team to curate content, answer questions, and hold office hours. Topic Mentors will be expected to support the following over a 3 month period: - Spend 6-10 hours curating content and supporting lesson creation (with support of trained instructors) - Conduct 4-6 hours of live training on your specific topic. Be available for weekly online "office hours” to answer questions Minimum of 4 x 1 hour sessions. - Answer questions via email
