Social Media Toolkit: Help Decertify Police
& Help Families Hold Police Accountable

Across our nation, movements for racial justice are challenging the role of police in our daily lives while demanding affirmative solutions. It's time for California to remove abusive police from our streets to protect Black people, Indigenous people, people of color and those with disabilities.

SB 731, authored by Senator Steven Bradford, will improve community safety by keeping officers who commit misconduct off the streets by establishing a statewide process to decertify officers who are fired for specified misconduct such as excessive force, sexual misconduct and dishonesty. It will also strengthen California’s civil rights law, the Bane Act, by removing the requirement that victims of police violence prove that officers had specific intent to violate their civil rights – an impossible bar for most cases.

Use this toolkit to help spread awareness about SB 731 to keep our communities safe and to keep abusive officers off our streets. Share this toolkit with your community: https://tinyurl.com/sb731toolkit
