In an effort to woo enterprise customers away from Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud is partnering with a whole host of security vendors, including Fortinet, McAfee and Palo Alto Networks, to bolster security for its customers.
All told, Google Cloud announced more than a dozen new partners solutions and security partner integrations.
Kevin Ichhpurani, vice president of the Google Cloud Global Ecosystem, and Sunil Potti, vice president of engineering at Google Cloud Security, said in a blog post that Google Cloud was "committed to providing customers with high levels of security and data protection."
"We understand that many customers have dedicated tools and strategic relationships with the industry’s leading security vendors," Ichhpurani and Potti said. "We want to meet you where you are, allowing you to preserve your investments, as well as benefit from functionality you can’t get on other clouds. That’s why we work closely with partners in the security industry to help you better secure your applications and information."
Palo Alto Networks and Google jointly developed several solutions to support security for customers' multi-cloud environments, and to enhance threat detection capabilities.
Using Palo Alto's Prisma Cloud Security platform and its VM-Series virtual firewalls, Google and Palo Alto announced a new multi-security cloud framework for Google's Anthos and multi-cloud Kubernetes deployments to help Google Cloud customers use a common compliance and runtime security posture across all of their workloads.
The two companies also announced a new security framework that combines Google Cloud's Event Threat Detection product with Palo Alto Networks' AutoFocus threat intelligence service. The security framework blends signals based on Google's own internal sources with additional visibility from Palo Alto Networks footprint of network, endpoint and cloud intelligence sources. The two frameworks will be available in the first half of next year.
With Fortinet, Google Cloud has expanded its partnership to provide a new reference architecture to connect facilities to Google Cloud with secure SD-WAN solutions, which makes Fortinet's FortiWeb Cloud WAF available as-a-service on Google Cloud. Google Cloud is also integrating Fortinet's FortiCWP service with its Google Cloud Security Command Center, which will be available early next year.
Google Cloud also announced a new partnership MacAfee to integrate its MVISION Cloud solution for data, security, threat prevent, governance and compliance capabilities for container workloads in Google Cloud. The partnership with MacAfee also includes an endpoint security solution for Linux and Windows-based workloads.
IBM will provide consulting and managed services for Google Cloud customers to help develop, enforce, and manage security and compliance policies across public-, hybrid-, and multi-cloud environments.
In addition, Wipro, a global IT consulting firm, will deliver new security services for Google Cloud customers, including consulting, digital transformation, architecture design, security controls configuration, and continuous controls management.

Google Cloud has also added of Citrix Workspace for customers on Google Cloud, which includes integration with G Suite for a single sign-on experience, multi-factor authentication and improved security policies.
