RustWatch : developing a wheat rust early warning and control system
Wheat production throughout Europe has experienced severe epidemics of yellow and brown rust over the last twenty years, leading to an increase in the consumption of plant protection products. Some 20 research institutes, universities, breeders, extension services and chemical companies have launched the European project RustWatch to improve the prevention and control of wheat rust and thus establish an early warning system in Europe. With this questionnaire for wheat producers in Europe, RustWatch seeks to investigate the framework conditions and the needs for protection and warning against the various rust diseases.
The main aim of this study is to capture the different socio-economic-cultural factors that determine the choice of wheat production and protection methods. By knowing and understanding this, RustWatch will thus be able to set up a rust early warning system. Alerting farmers in good time will enable them to prevent and control wheat diseases more effectively.

The participation of farmers and other stakeholders is therefore essential to the success of this project, and we thank you in advance for your contribution!

This questionnaire appeals to wheat farmers in Europe. The survey will take about 20 minutes to complete. We ask you to read the questions carefully and to answer them as honestly as possible, as your answers will be treated anonymous.
