After a year of heartbreak and loss, the only thing keeping Constance afloat is the dog rescue she works at with her sister, Sunny. Desperate for a change, Constance impulsively joins a new gym, even though it seems impossibly hard, and despite the gym’s prickly owner.

Rhett Santos keeps his gym as a refuge for his former-military brothers and to sweat out his own issues. He’s ready to let the funny redhead join, but unprepared for the way she wiggles past his hard-won defenses.

When their dog rescue is threatened, the sisters fight to protect it. And they need all the help they can get. As Rhett and Constance slowly open up to each other, they’ll find that no one is past rescuing; what they need is the right person—or dog—to save them.

the setup…
Constance Morgan hasn’t been herself since her father died and her boyfriend broke things off. She finds it difficult to do much more than help out at her sister Sunny’s animal rescue organization, Pittie Place. At Sunny’s prodding, she decides to attempt a spin class but is drawn to the gym across the street, Semper Fit, run by former Marine Rhett Santos. It’s a CrossFit regimen that is daunting but Constance reluctantly gives it a try, attracting Rhett’s attention as it’s obvious everything about this form of fitness is new to her. Who knew this would be a life changing moment for the both of them.

the heart of the story…
Constance is so relatable as she was her father’s caregiver until his death and it was a double blow in the aftermath, especially when her lame ex-boyfriend didn’t stick around. It’s easy to retreat from the world as you succumb to the grief, sorrow and loss when your focus for living goes away. Even though she’s a gifted massage therapist with a unique ability to connect intuitively with people, she’s no longer using that gift. Rhett is not an easy man, suffering from his own issues related to his last deployment. Workouts help him manage his anxiety but he also deliberately maintains distance from just about everyone…until Constance. Their connection was remarkable and rather lovely. It took some time for their relationship to develop and it did organically. Constance’s gradual change to emerge again among the living was heartwarming and her influence on Rhett spurred his reawakening. They rescued each other.

the narration…
This story required quiet understatement and the narrator certainly delivered a performance that was a perfect fit. I enjoyed her soothing tone and storytelling skills.

the bottom line…
There was a secondary storyline involving Sunny and her rescue organization that was just as intriguing as Constance and Rhett’s. It involved a disreputable dog breeder and her abuse of these animals both angered and saddened me. But Sunny’s refuge provided a much needed balm and I fell for several of these pooches with their adorable personalities. There’s quite a bit of detail about the fitness sessions I found tedious at times but there is so much more to love, more than overcompensating. Highly recommend this for anyone who loves a good story involving precious dogs and the people trying to save them along with themselves.

RESCUE YOU (Dogwood County Book #1) by Elysia Whisler is the first book in a new Women’s fiction series that had me hooked from the very first chapter. This is a new author that I will definitely be following into the future.

Constance and Rhett are such wonderful characters. Both broken and yet when they meet, they know just what the other needs even as they work through obstacles of their own. It is not a relationship that comes easily, but I believe the author handled the speed and interactions realistically. The use of Rhett’s extreme fitness center, Semper Fit, as a place for physical as well as emotional change had me as intrigued as the dog rescue, Pittie Place which had all of the sisters’ dynamics playing out around it.

Constance and Sunny’s relationship as sisters, who love each other dearly, but have had certain roles forced on them evolves as both sisters change throughout this story. The relationships with the men in their lives adds to the dynamic, but does not stop their growth and love for each other. Every character in this book is fully fleshed and play a pivotal role in the overall story.

While emotionally dense with several real-life serious situations and problems, the author was still able to make this story easy to read with touches of humor. This book covers rescue dogs and puppy mills, sister relationships, depression after death of a loved one, divorce and PTSD all with an authority that never had me doubting the research and knowledge of any one topic.

I highly recommend this book and new author! I am anxiously waiting for the next book in this series!

Emotional and heartwarming. Comforting and raw. Healing and hurt. Elysia Whisler stole my heart with this gorgeous Romance filled with deep feelings and furry friends. Sisters Constance and Sunny have gone through a lot together. Now they’re both focusing on saving others, dogs in particular. Constance is a massage therapist but she doesn’t only work on two legged clients, but the four-legged variety as well. Sunny owns a dog shelter and is known to have “stolen“ a dog or two from a bad situation. When Constance finds herself in a hard-core gym owned by Rhett there is an instant connection. BUT the wounds in both Constance and Rhett run deep. What follows is a story filled with sweat, tears, anger, fear, regret, determination, healing, and of course dogs.

This was such an engaging Romance with so much substance and heart. The characters were so well-developed, multi dimensional with real and relatable emotion. Loved Constance as a character and was so interested in her job. I have worked all my adult life in gyms and I really enjoyed the fitness aspect of the story. And of course all the dogs added another heartwarming layer to the story. The romance was so quiet and patient, I really loved how feelings developed between Constance and Rhett in the story. There is a secondary romance going on in the story that I would love to see further explored in a future book. Lisa Larsen narrated the audiobook and did such a wonderful job. I loved the voice she gave each character especially that of Constance. You could just feel the compassion dripping from Constance when she was voiced through the narrator. If you like dogs, fitness, Romance, and emotion then this is a can’t miss.

I believe that everything that happens in your life has an affect on your future. Constance and Sunny have been through more than most. With their father being a Vietnam veteran, the girls were born later in life. When their mother dies when they are still quite young, Constance steps up to "mother" Sunny. Their father is almost deaf and has his own demons to deal with. He recently died and Constance's two year relationship has ended. Both women have baggage and have taken a role that keeps them set in their ways. Sunny owns a dog rescue called Pittie Place and Constance is a massage therapist for humans and dogs. When Constance walks into Semper Fit looking for a change, their lives will not be the same. Rhett, the owner of Semper Fit is a wounded warrior, both physically and emotionally. From their first meeting, there is a pull between them that they both try to ignore, but it is too strong for them.

There is a lot going on in this story that pulled at my heart. The relationships between the sisters, Sunny and her employee Roger, Pete, Sunny and Constance (best friends growing up), Constance and Rhett and even Sunny and Callaghan are all wonderful and play different roles in this story. This is a character driven novel that had me loving these characters and rooting for them to find what they needed to grow and change. The dogs were amazing characters. From 3-legged Fezzi to the little family that Constance finds and the dogs that Sunny and Pete steal from the puppy mill, my heart broke for them. They also had an important role to play in the healing of the main characters, as well as their own healing. Constance and Rhett are a wonderful couple. There was instant attraction, but not insta-love. Elysia Whisler took her time bringing them together. I enjoyed learning more about them and watching them begin to trust each other. There were several real-life issues dealt with in this story such as: rescue dogs and puppy mills, sibling relationships, grief, divorce and PTSD which are all well researched. This story is emotional, enlightening and enjoyable, all written in a way that was easy to read, with some humour. I definitely recommend this story to those who enjoy romance, animal stories, stories about veterans and lovers of women's fiction. I am already looking forward to the next book in this series. I was gifted a copy of this book upon request. The rating and opinions shared are my own.

It has taken me a few days to process this book before I could write a review. To say that I loved it seems to be too simple, this book made me feel. Elysia Whisler didn’t just write a story and scratch the surface of what massage was or what PTSD was or what rescue dogs look like, act like or what it takes to help them recover. No, she educated herself on each topic and was able to deeply use that in each situation and character and build them and make you feel them on a level that most authors take years of writing to achieve. I fell in love with Constance and Rhett and was pulling strongly for each of them, my heart broke at different times for each of their struggles. I literally cried at one point because Elysia had a scene with Rhett that hit a bit too close to home and my heart hurt for him and I just wanted to help him through that moment. I also loved the other characters, especially Sunny and I hope she gets her own story!

Constance Morrigan and her sister Sunny are very busy when it comes to rescuing dogs from puppy mills, even if it means taking illegal actions when they deem it necessary. Meanwhile, Constance has joined a new gym, and this brings her into contact with the owner, Rhett Santos. The two soon find that they have a lot in common, despite Rhett's reticence to become involved.

Keeping the dog rescue afloat is Constance's ultimate goal, even it involves risk and danger. This book most certainly touches on the serious subject of puppy mills. The sisters have no trouble stepping over any lines when it comes to barging in and dealing with the owners of these despicable mills, focusing on one woman named Janice Matteri in particular. Constance and Sunny work together quite well, and all the while romance begins to bloom for for Constance.

This story by Elysia Whisler deals with issues both serious and light. Readers get to see the efforts behind rescuing and training dogs, while romance is developing behind the scenes. It was not easy to read of the cruelty behind puppy mills, so the romance that was forming was a nice distraction when it came to this story. I liked the fact that the romance was secondary in this book and that the focus of the dogs took the main part of the story. This excellent story is one that I enjoyed throughout and was more than pleased as the ending proved delightful for both the dogs and the people involved.

Many thanks to MIRA for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

In Elysia Whisler's book, Rescue You, a lot of rescuing is going on! Sunny Morrigan runs Pittie Place, a non-profit dog rescue. Her older sister, Constance Morrigan, is a massage therapist who has started working out at Semper Fit gym. Rhett Santos owns the gym and teaches classes there. Sunny and her friends have been regularly raiding Janice Matteri's kennel for years. The dogs are treated inhumanly and Sunny and a vet try to improve their quality of life. Pete Clark trains the suitable dogs and they go to Canine Warriors for service members who need them. All of these people are dealing with the problems in their lives while trying to do good going forward. I enjoyed this story and the empathy the main characters show for cruelty to animals! I liked seeing Constance and Rhett get comfortable being around each other. I was rooting for Pittie Place and for HEAs!

I absolutely loved this story!
You cannot help but love this book with romance, mystery, fitness, dogs and friendship.
This novel has it all!
You will not go wrong with dogs and crossfit in the plot!
With each page turned, I got more involved with these characters who became friends!
Sunny is the rescuer and owner of Pittie Place, and it is her whole world.
She will do anything which includes stealing to save abused dogs.

Her sister is a massage therapist named Constance, who needs some self confidence and to rebuild her own life. She has always been the family caregiver and really needs some care of her own.
She joins a crossfit for some assistance. ( A crossfit??)
She learns more than crossfit and finds more than confidence in the box!

Beautiful novel!

Wow! It is not hard to relate to the characters in Rescue You. This is a warm, true to life story about real people with life problems and confusions who want to change or improve their lives in some way. If you have compassion and respect for animals, this book is for you.
Elysia weaves so many emotions throughout the story with respect for humans and animals. This is my favorite type of book to read because just when you think “I’ll stop after this part” - you can’t.
I’m definitely looking forward to the next book by Ms. Whisler.

Rescue You by Elysia Whisler is a sweet, romantic and emotional story line revolving around rescue dogs. Constance Morrigan, our heroine, helps out her sister, Sunny, who runs a non-profit dog rescue, Pittie Place. Constance’s main job is as massage therapist, which she is very good at; in her spare time, she will help find dogs that are suffering or treated badly, especially a local kennel who mistreats dogs, even using them as fighting dogs. Sunny, is our second heroine, since there are two POV’s though out; and despite Constance telling her to be careful stealing the dogs in bad shape, as the woman in charge of the kennel threatens them. Both were great sisters, always watching each other’s backs, with their heart and soul into helping the dogs.

Constance is still trying to get over her ex-boyfriend dumping her a year ago, and decides to join a fitness gym. Rhett Santos, our hero, owns Semper Fit gym, who upon seeing Constance, decides to be the one to teach her. Rhett runs a hard-core operation, especially with former military friends, and though she is new to this kind of exercise, he pushes Constance beyond normal. Constance finds herself attracted to hunk who takes the time to teach her, and Rhett also begins to have feelings for her; but they both try to keep this strictly as a teacher and student.

Sunny works hard taking care of the dogs, with some good friends, such as Pete (who takes many of them to become service dogs), local doctor (who always help to bring the dogs back to health), and Detective Sean (who makes a deal to help her stop the evil owner of the kennel, as well as having Constance do her massage expertise on his friend, who suffers from injuries in the army). They all made a great group of characters, who all were determined to help those dogs treated inhumanly. Cruelty to Animals was a major theme in this story.

I loved both Constance and Sunny, and enjoyed to romances that followed for both of them. I enjoyed Rhett teaching Constance so much stuff in the fitness gym, some of which I thought may have been a bit overkill; though I loved them together. It was very emotional when they rescued a dog, who was in very bad shape, and afraid to let anyone near him; and I loved Fezzi, Constance’s dog, who had lost a leg.

What follows is a sweet romance, wonderful couples, heartwarming and emotional story, that also becomes suspenseful after threats that put their lives, and the dogs in danger. Rescue You is a story that pulls on so many emotions, as well as finding love and happiness. If you enjoy stories with great couples and dogs, you need to read this book. Very well written by Elysia Whisler.

Constance, a massage therapist is looking for a change after breaking up with her cheating boyfriend but can not seem to get motivated. When she promises her sister Sunny that she will try a spin class, she is on her way when she sees another gym and decides to peek inside. What she finds is not only a new lease on life, but also the handsome and intriguing trainer Rhett.

Sunny runs a dog rescue and is determined to shut down a neighboring puppy mill at all costs. When she gets caught rescuing a dog, she quickly makes a deal with the local deputy and soon things start to heat up. She is not looking for love, she is just fine with having someone warm her bed on occasion. What Sunny is not counting on is her life long friend Pete, the canine trainer to make her wonder if she is seeing the right man.

What a fabulous novel. Two sisters, each trying to find their way in life, supporting each other emotionally and who are also best friends. A dog rescue with the sweetest animals, a puppy mill that threatens everything they believe in, add in a war hero who suffers with PTSD, a life long friend who is hiding his true feelings and you have an absolute perfect story. I loved all the different personalities, how each character had their own issues to address and the awareness of rescued animals and the dreaded puppy mills. This story is heartwarming, endearing, sweet and just perfect for a chilly fall night by the fireplace. Thank you so much to the author Elysia Whisler, Harlequin Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review. It was fabulous! Constance and Sunny, are 2 sisters, who run a dog rescue shelter.
Constance is getting over a heartbreak and has joined a gym. Rhett owns the gym and is in need of rescuing himself. As Constance and Rhett get close to each other he is also helping them with the dog rescue. We are also getting first hand about their neighbor who runs a puppy mil.
This book has all the emotions. Wanting to scoop up the rescued dogs and wanting the puppy mill shut down. I loved how these 2 sisters work together. What they go through to rescue dogs and the work they put into keeping them healthy.
Thank you to Harlequin and NetGalley for the ARC to review.

Constance and Rhett’s emotional story in Rescue You by Elysia Whistler, book one in her Dogwood County series, was a story of two loss people unsure of what it would take to break through the walls constructed to protect themselves. During the past year therapeutic masseuse, Constance lost her dad to cancer and her boyfriend to another woman, feeling loss and adrift. Working at her sister’s dog recue helps keep her focus. Desperate for a change, Constance impulsively joins a new gym despite feeling unable to perform any of the impossibly difficult tasks and the gym’s broody owner. Rhett Santos runs his gym as refuge for his former-military brothers as well as to sweat out and work out his own issues. Rhett has no difficulty allowing Constance to join, but is totally unprepared for the way this funny redhead gets past the wall he built around himself. When the dog rescue is threatened by their unscrupulous neighbor, the sisters fight to protect it; calling in all the help they can get. As Rhett and Constance get to know each other and make themselves vulnerable, they discover that no one, person or dog, is beyond being rescued.

Rhett and Constance are attracted to each other from the beginning. They share a strong magnetism and off the charts chemistry that set the sheets aflame. Their attraction is strong enough to help them find a love that is soulful and fulfilling; matched together like puzzle pieces fitting together for perfection. There is a second love story between Constance’s sister, Sunny and their third Musketeer, Pete that is charming. Trigger Note: there is discussion of dog abuse, dog fighting rings, and puppy mills.

Ms. Whistler wrote an amazing, passionate, and emotional story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sizzling chemistry, amusing banter, scary situations, and strong characters, giving Constance and Rhett a chance at true love and a forever together. I highly recommend Rescue You to other readers.

**A copy of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.**

This is the last book that I had to read from the fall selection that I got from Harlequin. I am constantly looking for new authors. Especially with romance. I have plenty of authors that I love in other genres but I am kind of new to the romance genre so I am always looking for new authors. Plus the description sounded sooo good.

Constance has had it rough. Her dad recently passed away and her boyfriend was cheating on her with someone else. She found out when she went to surprise him with a run and saw him with another woman. She is trying to find her groove in life again. That all changes when she on a whim goes into a CrossFit gym. She finds the passion for something that she has lost along the way. She may also find passion. Guys… I stayed up until 1 AM one night reading this book and got 68% read in that time. The next day I kept sneak reading it. Although me hurting my back did help because I sat down more during the day but still.

I loved the character of Constance. It could have been any of us. She was down to earth and smart. She has a connection with people and can figure them out pretty quickly. I loved that during the book she got the nickname Stanzi. That isn’t the normal nickname that I would think of for a Constance. Her sister does call her CiCi but that is it. The character of Rhett (her love interest) is multilayer. I wanted to smack him at times because of his stubbornness but at the same time felt bad for him for his issues. He served in the military and has PTSD along with physical issues from a bomb blast. I liked how Constance and Rhett’s relationship formed over the entire book. They didn’t fall into bed. They took that time and built it up. They feel for each other slowly. This is a fairly clean romance. They do have sex but it isn’t overly descriptive and in my books rather clean. I will certainly be checking out more books by this author and I HOPE that she writes a second book so I can find out what happens to Constance’s sister Sunny and her romance that began to blossom at the end of the book.

OM goodness- this made me cry. It's a wonderfully written story of a pair of sisters- Constance and Sunny- and their friends Rhett, Sean, and Pete, as well as the dogs they rescue. Constance is at a low point when she impulsively enters Rhett's gym. Rhett, a veteran of multiple tours, struggles with PTSD and with physical injuries that, as it turns out, Constance, a massage therapist, is able to help. Sunny runs a rescue for dogs and she's been trying to shut their neighbor Janice, who runs a puppy mill, down for years. Many of the dogs she saves are trained by Pete to be assistance animals. This sounds dry but oh its not. This isn't a big sweeping romance, it's real relatable people who help one another and animals as well. I'm no fitness buff but I loved the details about the workouts as well those of Constance's massage practice. As Constance gets into shape physically, she and Rhett both heal emotionally. And Sunny, well, she finds herself surprised by the turns love take. I defy you not to feel for Humphrey. Thanks to the publisher for the ARC. This is a terrific debut that I really enjoyed. Two enthusiastic thumbs up.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel… It was a whole lot more than just a plain old romance. The interesting aspect of rescuing dogs, and matching them with veterans added a whole lot to the plot and the storyline and the characters themselves. I especially enjoyed the energy between the two main characters. And the sisters’ relationship was well done also.

Rescue You is the first in a the Dogwood County series. It involves Constance and her sister Sunny whose passion is rescuing dogs. Constance is a massage therapist who volunteers her time at the dog shelter helping rehabilitate the dogs. Constance had a bad break up the year before and has been in a funk and depression ever since. Rhett is a wounded veteran who owns a gym in town that is his sanctuary.

This is a very slow burn romance. Constance and Rhett spend a lot of time fighting their feelings for each other. Neither one has a lot of trust. Both have a lot of baggage that they need to unpack. I really enjoyed watching them develop a friendship and love for each other. This more than a romance though. Sunny and Constance have always had kind of a tentative relationship. Watching them work through that was endearing to watch.

There is a side kind of love triangle with Sunny and two other men. I wasn't surprised at who she ended up with. However, I felt like that story line was kind of an after thought. I would have liked to have her maybe get her own book so it could be explored a bit more. The next book, Forever Home, featuring the loser of the triangle comes out later this year. I'm looking forward to reading it. I definitely recommend this one!

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

There are times in our lives that when the hurt on the inside is much worse than the scars people see on the outside. That's what it's like for both Rhett and Constance. Each have suffered in ways that other's can't see. Their friends and family are supportive but some pain must be worked through on their own.

Constance's world came crashing down when her father was diagnosed with a dehabiliating illness and she and her fiance moved in with him to take care of him. As Constance's world began to revolve around her father's health, her fiance's lack of compassion and understanding only drove them further apart.

Rhett's wounds are both physical and mental. The day the bombs exploded and two members of his squad didn't make it home was the day that Rhett's soul was scarred as well as his legs. The doctors try to treat the symptoms as best they can, but he's tired of the pills and the physical therapy that doesn't work.

Something changes for both Constance and Rhett on the day she stumbles into his gym and into a class. He sees something in his eyes that call to him, calls him to push her out of her comfort zone, to challenge her to be the person she is in his eyes. Constance sees Rhett in a way that no one else does either. He's more than a Marine, a veteran or a gym rat. He's a man in pain.

This book follows the pair along their journey toward self-awareness and each other. It's a book that kept me up late until I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer.

Apart from some pacing related to how a few situations were developed, I really liked all about this book.
The romance was also practically perfect, probably could have used a bit more romantic moments before they admitted their feelings, but I'm happy enough with how this was done.
I will definitely read the next story too.

4.5 Stars - What a great book - loved it! The life of two sisters, Sunny - who rescues dogs (sometimes kidnapping them to save them) and Constance who is going through a rough patch after losing her dad to cancer and her fiancé to another woman. Not going to tell you the story - just read it yourself and enjoy.

This story took a bit for me to work out in my head. I was about a quarter of the way through before I could tell the voices of the sisters apart in my head. It was around the same point I felt the segues smoothed out. Of course, with any new-to-me author I have to get used to their writing style. After I finished this book I found out this is the author’s debut published novel, so she’s not just new to me…she’s new to everyone. For a debut novel, I was impressed.

Constance’s back story unfolds slowly, so we get to know her as we also get to know her hang-ups. Rhett is a bit harder to figure out, but I felt that was by design. We, as the readers, don’t need to know his details. We get his basic story of how he came to be where he is at, physically and emotionally, and that’s really all we need to know for the story to work. That way the story is not bogged down in details that are insignificant to the journey these characters are on.

While Constance (aka Red, aka Cici, aka Stanzi) and Rhett are the central characters to this story, there are other stories occurring at the same time. It felt like Constance’s sister, Sunny, was supposed to have equal billing in this book. Her story is interesting, to be sure. It’s also important to the overall story arc. But I found myself more immersed in Constance’s story and often annoyed with Sunny’s parts. I like Sunny, but her habit of wearing blinders and being too laser focused could grate on my nerves. I really found myself interested in Pete, the childhood friend of these sisters, and wish we would have gotten more about him and his service dogs. The same can be said for police detective/Rhett’s friend Callahan. Both of these men are important to the overall story, but we got some teases about them that left me a bit empty…wanting more.

It may not seem like it after that last paragraph, but I really did enjoy this story. At least after that first bit, when I was able to be fall into the story fully. I understood Constance on so many levels and feel like she is one of those heroines that all women will be able to see themselves in some way or another. She’s tough and determined but lost herself after some huge setbacks. And honestly, I think I was partial to her because there were things about her that reminded me of my older sister. She’s very intuitive and compassionate. My sister is much more of a warm and welcoming person, but her inner workings are similar to this character’s.

I’m hoping to read more by this author in the future. She’s off to a great start.

Elysia Whisler's novel Rescue You opens with massage therapist Constance slamming on her van brakes to avoid hitting a dog. She gets out of the van and manages to coax the lost dog, who was in bad shape and had recently given birth, to eat a biscuit.

She followed the dog who led her to newborn puppies in an abandoned house. Constance wasn't sure if the dog was a stray or from a nearby overcrowded and dirty puppy mill, run by Janice, an awful woman. She managed to get all the sick, dirty puppies and mom in her van and took them to her sister Sunny's dog rescue home, Pittie's Place.

Sunny has been trying for years to get the puppy mill shut down, and along with childhood friend Pete, (who owns Canine Warriors training dogs as pets for veterans) has snuck onto Janice's property to rescue dogs on their own. Janice looks at it as stealing, as does Detective Callahan of the local police department.

After Constance helps Callahan with a stiff neck, he asks her to help his buddy Rhett, a former Marine who suffered a bad leg injury and PTSD. Rhett owns a weight training gym, Semper Fit, for people who are serious about their training.

Constance has had a rough few years- she cared for her late father through an
illness, and her husband left her. She used to be a runner, but these last few years she hasn't kept herself in shape. Sunny offers her a place in her spin classes, but one day Constance finds herself in front of Semper Fit and goes in.

Rhett is intrigued by Constance, and impressed by her determination and work ethic. They circle around each other, and eventually Rhett takes her on as a client and they become friends- maybe even more.

Rescue Me is the perfect novel for anyone who loves dogs (especially pit bulls) and takes their exercise training seriously. (I know more than a few of those people.) We are introduced to a cast of characters in an interesting settings of the world of dog rescue and weight training. If you spend a lot of time in the gym, you will get this wonderful novel on an entirely other level.

It's the first novel in Dogwood County, a new series, and the characters win you over in such a way that you look forward with great anticipation to the next installment and get to know some of the other characters better. The Christmas gala party at Pittie's Place was so vivid, I felt like I was a guest at the party. I hope I get invited next year.

Thank you to Harlequin Books for putting me on their Fall Reads tour.
