Rotaract Club: Taal Volcanic Eruption

Hi! My name is Louise and I am the Project Development Chair of Cal Rotaract, a community service organization at the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) working to solve Bay Area (located in Northern California) and International issues. Every semester, our club organizes a benefit show where we invite student-run dance, acapella, theatrical and other performing arts groups to perform for one show. The ticket sales for this show are then donated towards a certain cause. Last semester, we raised funds for the Alzheimer’s Association, a non-profit striving to eliminate Alzheimer’s through the advancement of research.

This semester, we are raising funds for relief efforts towards communities affected by the ongoing Taal Volcanic eruption in the Philippines, which began on January 12, 2020. As of January 31, this eruption has affected 350,000 people.

Along with all the proceeds that we get from our benefit show, we hope to raise more funds through this GoFundMe campaign. ALL proceeds that we will get from both the ticket sales and GoFundMe fundraiser will be used to buy disaster relief supplies that would go towards our cause.
