AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a year-long elective class that is offered to students who want to go to college. We are dedicated to closing the achievement gap by preparing all students for college and other �post-secondary opportunities. AVID teaches skills and behaviors for academic success, provides intensive support with tutorials and strong student/teacher relationships, creates a positive peer group for students and helps develop a sense of hope for personal achievement gained through hard work and determination.

This application form should be filled out by students who voluntarily choose to join AVID at Akins High School for the 2018-19 school year.

In addition to this application, you must get 2 teachers to complete and submit a recommendation form (available online at: https://tinyurl.com/AkinsAVIDtrec1819) to Christina Garcia-Mata by the deadline (Friday March 2nd, 2018)
